Renishaw's laser device has high-performance measurement capabilities based on the principle of laser interference, and is as easy to install as traditional steel grating and glass grating.

RLE system

The RLE system is a zero difference laser interferometry measurement system designed specifically for position feedback applications. Each RLE system includes an RLU laser device and one or two RLD10 emission heads, depending on the specific application requirements.

The RLU laser device is available in two configurations: single axis or dual axis, including a HeNe (helium/neon) laser source, electronic devices for frequency stabilization, fiber optic conduction devices, and axis position feedback electronic devices.

Renishaw currently offers two models of laser devices, which differ in performance:

RLU10 laser device

The laser frequency stabilization accuracy of RLU10 within any hour is ± 50 ppb, and its performance level is suitable for most non vacuum environment applications.

Features and advantages

Combining RLU10 with a Renishaw launch head (RLD) suitable for the desired application has the following characteristics and advantages:

  • Simple system structure -Utilizing Renishaw's fiber optic transmission system
  • Quick adjustment of collimation -RLD emitter allows laser beam to be directly directed towards the measurement axis
  • Compact structure and easy setup -The system takes up very little space and has a very short installation time

Configure RLE system

To operate as a displacement interferometer, Renishaw's laser device needs to be connected to a suitable laser head. When defining an RLE system, the following options should be considered:

  • Laser source (RLU10 or RLU20)
  • Fiber length 3 m or 6 m (* RLE10)
  • Calibration certificate (this option comes with additional fees)
  • Flat optical mirror group or conical reflector optical mirror group
  • RLD emitter types for each axis
  • Beam output direction of each axis (not applicable to differential interferometer emitter)
