This standard reference material (SRM) is mainly used to measure the thermal conductivity or resistance of insulation materials. SRM 1453 is a high-density expanded polystyrene board that has been certified for thermal conductivity (λ). SRM can be used in combination with ASTM C177 [1], ASTM C518 [2], or ASTM C1199 [3]. One unit of SRM 1453 consists of a molded rectangular panel made of expanded polystyrene board.
The nominal size of the circuit board is 930 mm × 660 mm × 13.4 mm, and the material's bulk density ranges from 37 kg · m-3 to 46 kg · m-3. The certified thermal conductivity (λ) value: The certified λ (W · m-1 · K-1) value and its related relative expanded uncertainty (k=2) are λ=0.001 11-0.000 042 4 ρ+0.000 115 × T ≤ 1.5%, where ρ is the effective range of bulk density (kg · m-3) from 37 kg · m-3 to 46 kg · m-3, and T is the sample average temperature (K) with an effective period from 281 K to 313K. Measurement uncertainty: The uncertainty in the certified value is only applicable to this batch of polystyrene boards and can be expressed as an extended uncertainty U=kuc k with a coverage factor of 2.

Certification expiration: SRM 1453 certification is indefinitely valid within the measurement range with uncertainty, provided that the SRM certificate is processed and stored in accordance with the instructions provided in this manual (see "Processing, Storage, and Use Instructions"). Regular recalibration or re certification of this SRM is not required. If SRM is damaged, contaminated, or otherwise modified, the certificate is invalid.
Maintenance of SRM certification: NIST will monitor this SRM during the certification period. If there are substantial technological changes that affect certification, NIST will notify the purchaser. Registration (please refer to the attached page) will help with notifications. The overall direction and coordination of the technical measures leading to the SRM certification were completed by R.R.
