Taber stiffness tester from the United States150-B 150-E
Introduction
TaberThe stiffness tester (150-B, 150-E) is used to evaluate the stiffness and resilience of flexible materials. Since 1937, TABER 150 has become the standard tool for stiffness testing, and many notary units directly reference this machine as the standard basis for stiffness specifications.
Scope of application
The Taber stiffness tester (150-B, 150-E) is used to evaluate the stiffness and resilience of flexible materials, measuring materials with a thickness between 0.1-5.5mm, such as paper, foil, metal foil, plastic foil, cardboard, rubber, and melamine board Vinyl、 Various sheets such as wires, pipes, textiles, felt, leather, etc. The measurement range is within 0-10000 TABER stiffness units.
working principle
TABERThe important components of a stiffness tester include a constant speed motor, a weighted pendulum with a sample clamp that can swing freely, and a turntable that rotates with an electric gear. The clamping block of the sample holder is fixed at the center of the gear drive disc. During testing, the top of the specimen is clamped between the gaps of two clamping blocks, while its lower end is clamped between two adjustable fastening wheels connected to the turntable. When the power is turned on, the constant speed motor drives the gear turntable, and the torque generated acts on the sample, causing the pendulum to deviate by an angle. The stiffness value will be displayed on the dial or screen afterwards.
TABERThe stiffness meter provides consistent results for research and product testing by standardizing test samples. Provide and reproducible test results for preset directions, bending angles, and round-trip times.
Stiffness and rebound
1 A TABER stiffness unit refers to the force exerted on a test piece that is 5 centimeters long and 3.8 centimeters wide when bent to 15 degrees by 1/5 gram of gravity. One stiffness unit is also equal to 1g. cm. The rebound force represents the elastic mass of the material and is the ratio of the basic stiffness to the initial stiffness, expressed by the following calculation formula:
Resilience=Basic stiffness ÷ Initial stiffness × 100
The 'initial stiffness' is the reading obtained immediately when the sample is bent at a fixed angle, and is usually used to compare the quality of relative stiffness.
The 'basic stiffness' refers to the stiffness lost due to the rearrangement of material molecules caused by the sample being continuously fixed at that angle.

Standard Configuration
- 1Host computer
- 6Millimeter fixture (already installed on the instrument)
-Calibration sample 62
-Compensation range weights (0-10 TEBER units)
-Weight for measuring range (500 Taber units)
-Weight for measuring range (1000 Taber units)
-Weight for measuring range (2000 Taber units)
Additional optional accessories for expansion
The accuracy and measurement range of the stiffness meter can be expanded and adjusted through various "optional accessories", making it more widely used. The standard testing range is 10-100 stiffness units, and using the [Precision Weight Group] can expand the scale to 0.1-10000 units.
Weight box
When testing samples with stiffness units less than 10, compensation weights are required. Samples with stiffness units greater than 100 require additional weights:
Compensation weight -10 units of Tiber stiffness
Replace weights -500 units of Tiber stiffness
Replace weights -1000 units of Tiber stiffness
Replace weights -2000 units of Tiber stiffness
Additional Weight Set - Range 3000 to 5000 Tiber Stiffness Units
(Small Range) High Sensitivity Attachment
0.1...1.0This attachment is used for testing very lightweight materials such as glass paper, natural fibers, synthetic filaments, metal foils, and others with extremely low stiffness range. A 1.5 'x 1.5' sample is installed on a set of needle supports. Compensation weights need to be used in conjunction.
