Overview

Asphalt penetration test is one of the main quality indicators of asphalt. It is an indicator that reflects the relative viscosity of asphalt under certain conditions, indicating the degree of softness and consistency of asphalt, as well as its ability to resist shear failure. At 25 ℃ and for 5 seconds, under a load of 100 grams, the depth of penetration of the standard needle vertically into the asphalt sample is measured in units of 1/10 millimeter.

Product Details

Penetration testTest procedure
1、 Prepare a sample with a height 10mm higher than the expected penetration value. Cool the sample at room temperature for 1h-1.5h, adjust the water temperature, and place the cooled sample in a water tank with a specified test temperature of ± 0.1 ℃ for 1h-1.5h.

2、 Take out the sample and place it on the tripod of a flat bottomed glass dish at the test temperature. The water layer on the surface of the sample should not be less than 10mm.

3、 Place the flat bottomed glass dish containing the sample on the platform of the penetrometer. Slowly place the needle connecting rod and observe it with a reflective mirror or light reflection at an appropriate position. The needle tip is just in contact with the surface of the specimen. Pull down the pull rod and lightly touch the top of the needle connecting rod to adjust the pointer to zero.

4、 Press start, timer starts, and automatically stops after 5 seconds.

5、 Pull down the dial rod and make contact with the top of the needle connecting rod, and read the dial pointer or displacement indicator accurately to 0.5 (0.1mm).

6、 Conduct three parallel experiments, ensuring that the distance between the measuring points and the edge of the sample dish is not less than 10mm.

Penetration testMethod and steps
Prepare the sample according to the method of T0602 in this regulation.

1.2 Adjust the constant temperature water bath to the required test temperature of 25 ℃, or 15 ℃, 30 ℃ according to the test requirements, and maintain stability.

1.3 Inject the sample into the sample container, with the sample height exceeding the expected needle penetration value by 10mm, and cover the container to prevent dust from falling in. The sample dish containing the sample should be cooled at a room temperature of 15 ℃ -30 ℃ for no less than 1.5 hours (small sample dish), 2 hours (large sample dish) or 3 hours (special sample dish), and then transferred to a constant temperature water bath maintained at the specified test temperature ± 0.1 ℃ for no less than 1.5 hours (small sample dish), 2 hours (large sample dish) or 2.5 hours (special sample dish).

Adjust the penetrometer to be level. Check the needle connecting rod and guide rail to confirm that there is no water or other foreign objects, and no obvious friction. Clean the standard needle with trichloroethylene or other solvents and wipe dry. Insert the standard needle into the needle connecting rod and secure it with screws. Add additional weights according to the experimental conditions.
