Overview

The carbon black content tester/carbon black content analyzer determines the carbon black content in plastics such as polyethylene, polypropylene, and polybutene by measuring the weight of the sample after high-temperature decomposition under nitrogen protection.

Operation steps:
1. Heat the combustion boat until it is scorching hot, then cool it in a dryer for at least 30 minutes and weigh it. Place a polyethylene sample weighing (1.0 ± 0.1) g into a combustion boat and weigh it together. Subtract the weight of the combustion boat from this weight to obtain the weight A of the polyethylene sample.
2. First, place the combustion boat containing the sample in the middle of the quartz tube of the heating furnace, and then insert a rubber plug of an exhaust glass tube into one end of the glass combustion tube. Adjust the atmosphere device to allow nitrogen with an oxygen content of less than 0.5 to pass through the quartz tube at the required flow rate, and maintain this flow rate during the subsequent heating process.
3. Move the combustion boat to the instrument port and do not immediately remove it; After the combustion boat has cooled slightly in nitrogen, remove it and cool it in a dryer for 20-30 minutes before reweighing. Subtract the weight of the combustion boat and measure the weight of the residue (residue weight B).
4. Then place the combustion boat into the glass combustion tube, adjust the atmosphere device to replace nitrogen with oxygen and pass it into the quartz tube of the glass combustion tube at an appropriate flow rate to burn the residual carbon black. Take out the combustion boat and cool it down, weigh it, subtract the weight of the combustion boat, and determine the weight of the residue (residue weight C).
5. According to the formula: B-C/A * 100, calculate the carbon black content.
