As a key component of the power system, the battery must be tested and maintained annually, quarterly, or even monthly, and its test data needs to be analyzed regularly.

At present, the maintenance of valve regulated lead-acid batteries in China generally involves checking the float voltage of the battery. Practice has shown that voltage is not correlated with capacity because voltage only reflects the surface parameters of the battery.

Internationally, internal resistance testing has been widely used in the daily maintenance of batteries, replacing the previous voltage inspection method. Because internal resistance reflects the internal parameters of a battery, it has become an important parameter for accurately and quickly determining the health status of the battery.

The conclusion about internal resistance and capacity is that when the internal resistance of the battery is greater than 25% of the initial value (base value), the battery will not pass the capacity test. When the internal resistance of the battery is greater than twice the initial value (base value), the capacity of the battery will be below 80% of its rated capacity.
