AJS high-precision adjustment screw actuator

The AJS series fine tuning screws have precise rolling or cutting threads, and are treated with special lubrication to achieve exceptionally smooth adjustment and higher sensitivity than standard micrometers. The product has sub micron sensitivity and is an economical alternative to position free micrometers.

TPI for each application

TPI represents the number of threads per inch, and Newport's AJS screws come in 5 different pitches to meet the sensitivity requirements of each application. Higher TPI provides shorter pitch and higher sensitivity to 1 ° rotation of the adjustment screw. High precision 254, 170, 127, 100 or 20 TPI, rolling stainless steel threads with chuck and lubricant to achieve resistance free movement.

No drift lock function

Our screw locking function ensures that the adjusting screw does not rotate by simply tightening the positioning screw. Locking or loosening the pitch lock (now standard) will not affect the position of the screw. The version with a knob has a locking screw on the side, while the hexagonal version has a locking screw located at the end next to the adjusting screw. A wrench can be used for adjustment and locking. Unlocked, the 12.7mm stroke version can also be used in optical adjustment frames.

Faster alignment time

High TPI regulators have clear sensitivity and calibration time advantages. This figure shows the results of the calibration time test for the Ultima reflector mount with adjustment screws with TPI values of 80, 100, 127, and 170.

Choose the sensitivity you need

The sensitivity of the 170 TPI AJS adjustment screw is significantly improved compared to traditional adjustment screws. You can now use the 254 TPI version.

Suitable size for adjusting frame and translation platform

Newport's AJS adjustment screws have a 9.5 mm industrial standard mounting handle, allowing them to be used for most optical mounting mounts and linear translation stages that can use micrometer heads.

Optional adjustment knob

AJS adjustment screws are available with knob or hexagonal adjustment. KD.37 and KD.75 stainless steel knobs can be used as accessories for hexagonal adjustment types. The knob has a complete hexagonal hole for more sensitive adjustment.
