AirMagnet Survey is the industry's highly accurate 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless LAN design and deployment solution for achieving better performance, security, and compliance. It can calculate the ideal number of access points required for successful deployment of WLAN, as well as the placement and configuration of access points.
The function of AirMagnet Survey goes far beyond verifying RF coverage, it can also plan the actual network performance of end-users based on connection speed, throughput, and data packets. The result is a Wi Fi "panoramic prediction map" that includes all key RF and end-user performance indicators.
These advanced features enable users to integrate professional spectrum analyzers, simulate pre configuration scenarios, generate custom survey reports, conduct outdoor and voice surveys, verify end-user network requirements, and conduct detailed end-user capacity planning.
AirMagnet Survey includes two products, "Express" and "Pro". AirMagnet Survey Express provides a simplified solution version that allows users to perform basic Wi Fi site survey functions and display views on signals, signal-to-noise, and even user performance. AirMagnet Survey Pro offers all the features of the Express version and adds powerful industry features, including 802.11n deployment, multi floor deployment, outdoor surveying, network design validation, voice readiness validation and surveying, RF spectrum analysis, and more.

Actual survey data collection
Unlike other solutions that passively rely on collecting data such as signal strength, AirMagnet Survey allows users to perform active Iperf surveys to ensure the provided site surveys. During the active Iperf survey, AirMagnet Survey establishes contact with access points to test the actual connection quality. This allows surveyors to view the actual performance of the client in terms of WLAN throughput, connection speed, retry rate, and packet loss.Note: Iperf is only available in the Pro version
After the survey, users can simulate various changes in the network and preview the impact. This includes changing access point transmission power, channel, SSID settings, or adding environmental noise. Users can also simulate moving access points to new locations and preview the effect of adding additional access points. AirMagnet Survey provides users with an automated access point channel planning that avoids interference and over configuration.
Connecting multiple adapters to the same computer enables AirMagnet Survey to perform multiple surveys simultaneously, allowing users to simulate actual client behavior using industry best practices (using active and Iperf surveys) while reducing on-site survey time, experience, and cost by half. For example, users can perform both passive and active surveys simultaneously, or cross multiple frequency bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) simultaneously.
AirMagnet Survey users can view multiple floors of the same building and check if there are any access point signals leaking to adjacent floors. This feature allows users to design their network and reuse single access point services across multiple floors, reducing device and deployment costs.
The AirMagnet Survey includes the industry's 802.11n Iperf and active surveying, and considers the practical impact of multipath transmission encountered at each location, enabling active testing of the uplink and downlink performance of 11n networks. Users can design and deploy Wi Fi networks using three spatial stream APs, providing performance with data transfer rates up to 450 Mbps (software ready, transfer rates up to 600 Mbps). AirMagnet Survey Pro includes built-in coverage maps for 802.11n networks, such as operating mode coverage map, MCS rate send/receive coverage map, and channel width coverage map.

RF spectrum and wireless LAN voice survey
It is crucial to consider the radio frequency interference of non Wi Fi devices before making design and deployment decisions. have AirMagnet Spectrum XT、AirMagnet Spectrum Analyzer、Fluke Networks AnalyzeAir Users of the Cisco Spectrum Expert application can collect Wi Fi and spectral analysis data with just one survey. Users can intuitively view the RF energy at any location and find and display non 802.11 devices that interfere with WLAN. At any point on the graph, users can intuitively view the average level of the RF spectrum in each channel. Note: AirMagnet Survey Pro must be installed on the same computer as the user's frequency application.
AirMagnet Survey solves the challenges faced by network installers and IT staff when deploying VoWLAN networks, and provides them with a built-in voice readiness verification system (including pre-set Cisco 792X phone and Vocera support, and the option to add data from other vendors), allowing users to ensure that their network design complies with phone vendor recommendations and can perform actual voice surveys. By utilizing the industry's voice survey function, users can verify and design phone quality, capabilities, and other specific sound parameters at any location on the floor plan, helping to identify and minimize potential issues that may lead to low phone quality.
The application includes various coverage maps designed specifically for voice networks, such as WiMOS score or call quality maps, active call quantity maps, telephone roaming area maps (including roaming statistics), channel utilization maps, retry maps, etc., enabling users to design voice networks to ensure higher performance.

The AirMagnet Survey adapter check utility allows you to easily verify whether the AirMagnet software supports the current combination of operating system, adapter, and driver programs.
