The digital audio generator and probe can track and locate cables in real-time networks.

IntelliTone digital audio technology:

  • End the chaotic situation of cable positions, accurately suppress noise and erroneous signals
  • Locate cables in real-time networks, even if terminated at switches
  • Isolate and connect cables to cable bundles, regardless of whether cable leakage occurs
  • One step confirmation of cable position, inspection of cable connectivity, and detection of faults (open circuit, short circuit, and reverse connection)

SmartTone ® Analog audio technology:

  • Accurate line pair isolation is achieved through changes in audio rhythm during short circuits
  • Effectively track and locate voice, audio, and video cables

The visibility obtained enables more effective positioning of cables in distribution boards, switches, terminal blocks, or concealed wiring harnesses. Our new IntelliTone Pro audio generator and probe tool can identify cables that other products cannot find.

Fluke Networks' IntelliTone ™ The Pro Toner and Probe Series digital line finder is a tool that can provide both digital and analog signals simultaneously. This means it is equipped with cable positioning technology that is more powerful and suitable for any working environment. Through digital mode, data cables can be safely and effectively tracked and located in real-time networks. Through simulation mode, individual wire pairs can be identified and voice, audio, and video cables can be tracked.

IntelliTone from Fluke Networks ™ The Pro Toner and Probe Series provides visibility to help you locate cables hidden in floors, ceilings, walls, and wiring harnesses. The breakthrough digital technology it adopts makes it a tool that can securely and effectively track and locate in real-time networks.

Digital and Analog

Currently, only IntelliTone is available ™ The Pro audio generator and probe can combine the powerful functions of digital and analog technologies to solve common infrastructure problems during network installation, maintenance, and modification processes.

Digital and analog audio coexist in one tool.

Today's media networks are more diverse than ever before. Most buildings have telephones, twisted pair data cables, coaxial cables, and security/alarm lines simultaneously. To verify whether the wiring and termination types of this diverse combination of wiring types are correct, tools optimized for different frequencies, connector types, and working environments are needed. So far, no tool has been able to combine appropriate technology to span all types of copper media and be suitable for all environments. IntelliTone Pro has changed this situation by combining more digital and analog signals, and it can virtually locate and inspect various copper cables, regardless of the application or environment.

The timing for using digital signals

The digital encoded signals of IntelliTone Pro are mainly used for advanced data cables (Cat 5e/6/6a) and active network environments. This signal uses high frequency and matches the cable equipment to transmit high-frequency data according to the design. In this way, the audio can suppress interference data signals from Ethernet switches and invasive low-frequency termination. In this way, LAN cabling technicians can quickly find the correct cables during installation and troubleshooting.

A digital audio generator is also very helpful as it can display cable routing diagrams after locating cables, as well as check for short circuits, open circuits, and misconnections. The IntelliTone Pro 200 probe has an RJ45 input port and a line to meter function, which can be directly plugged into a patch panel or wall port. The benefits of testing this wiring diagram are doubled. It can eliminate the need for audio generators and cable detectors, as well as provide 99% confirmation of finding the correct cable.

When to use analog signals

The SmartTone analog audio of IntelliTone Pro can be used for voice grade cables (Cat 3 and below) as well as coaxial cables, safety/alarm, and speaker wiring. These cables have been optimized for lower frequency transmission. Therefore, using low-frequency audio makes it easier to locate it. It is also applied in situations where the interference from electronic devices is relatively small. In environments with significant interference, using digital audio may be better.

During installation, using SmartTone to simulate audio eliminates the need to guess the positioning of individual cable pairs. Every time the tested lines are short circuited together, the SmartTone analog signal will change its' singing voice '. In this way, telecommunications technicians can accurately distinguish individual wire pairs before inserting them into sockets or junction boxes, or when diagnosing audio transmission issues.

Positioning and isolation cables

Isolation terminal cable

IntelliTone ™ The Pro audio generator utilizes the characteristics of twisted pair cables to generate balanced signals that minimize the impact of signal loss. IntelliTone ™ The intelligent digital signal processing in the Pro probe can clearly identify the signal through audio and LED visual indicators, helping you quickly isolate the correct cable from the wiring harness or terminal block. IntelliTone ™ To avoid confusion in cable positioning, you can rely on finding out the correct position of the cable at once.

Separate wires for isolation

Due to signal loss between wire pairs, it is almost impossible to achieve precise wire pair isolation using traditional analog audio generators and probes. Therefore, wire pairs are usually incorrectly routed or terminated from the beginning. Reprocessing incorrect terminations or deploying new lines often wastes a significant amount of time and money. The SmartTone simulation technology of IntelliTone Pro eliminates blind guessing and improves accuracy by providing confirmation when locating the measured line pairs. Once the test line is short circuited, the audio signal will undergo a rhythm change. And the difference is very obvious.

»

Check cable connectivity

IntelliTone's powerful diagnostic capabilities eliminate callbacks during cable movement, addition, and change processes. The IntelliTone Pro 200 probe has a CABLEMAP function, which can identify common cable misconnections in twisted pair wiring. IntelliTone technology can automatically test the end-to-end connectivity of each conductor, and LED lights and audio can clearly indicate misconnections such as open circuits, short circuits, reverse wiring, etc.

»

Perform audio detection on real-time networks

Modern network devices use active termination schemes for cables connected to their ports. This termination not only reduces cable noise and crosstalk, but also absorbs analog audio signals, making it impossible for analog audio probes to detect the connected cables. Therefore, locating unidentified networks through simulation techniques often takes several hours of time. Unlike analog signals, IntelliTone digital signals remain strong even during the termination of normal mode. Moreover, the IntelliTone Pro audio generator can automatically detect individual cable conductors, enabling quick, efficient, and safe positioning of cables in active networks.

Verify Ethernet services

Use the powerful diagnostic features of IntelliTone Pro 200 monotonic generator and probe to perform movements, additions, and changes.

Audio - IntelliTone makes it easy to quickly locate cables in equipment cabinets when performing moves, additions, and changes. In case of signal loss, unconnected cables can be quickly isolated.

The IntelliTone Pro 200 probe has a CABLEMAP function that can identify common cable misconnections in twisted pair wiring. The TLA 568 wiring has a complete pin inspection function that can accurately identify open circuits, short circuits, or misconnected lines. The LED indicator light and its audio can clearly indicate the wrong wiring. By using the built-in line to meter function, it is possible to replace the audio generator with a cable detector without carrying independent tools or returning to the remote end. The IntelliTone Pro 200 toolkit is an all-in-one tool that can locate and map Category 5 cables (even if the cable is inserted into a switch), and also verify link services after moving, adding, and changing.

Verify Ethernet Service - Is the link pulse correct, or is it reversed due to uplink port cable switching, or does it support MDIX? Identify active Ethernet services on office wall panels. The LED indicator light can clearly indicate whether the Ethernet link connectivity is normal, reversed, or MDIX.

The optimization of the IntelliTone Pro digital audio system currently focuses on audio generation in modern network devices and Category 5 cables. To achieve this goal, IntelliTone uses radio frequency and digital audio data packets, the latter of which can drive all 4-wire pairs through multiple audio generation methods.

The data communication network utilizes IntelliTone Pro audio generators and probes to achieve movement, addition, and modification.

In recent years, there has been a unified standard for the installation of structured cables. The TIA-568A standard requires that at least two sockets must be used for wiring in all work areas, and 4 pairs of 100 ohm twisted pair cables must be used for horizontal wiring. This typically involves 2 or more direct connections from wall sockets to Cat5e cables on the patch panel.

connect

The IntelliTone digital audio system uses an 8-bit module socket. This allows the audio generator to be plugged into a wall socket through the included jumper, or if the wall socket is connected but blocked, the jumper can be unplugged from the computer and directly inserted into the audio generator.

Wall sockets are usually unmarked or have misconnections. Moreover, the 8-bit module socket can be used for data or telecommunications services, which can also increase confusion.

The service identifier provides the first clue.

The IntelliTone Pro 200 monotonic generator has a service identification function, which can display the appearance of services in the line. When plugged into a wall socket, it provides an indication of where to locate the cable in the cabinet. A 4-position socket is definitely for telecommunications services, while an 8-bit socket can be both a telecommunications connection and a data (network) connection. The existence of telecommunications services can usually be determined by searching for signals on the 110 blocks, which are connected in real-time to the telephone system.

The existence of Ethernet indicates that the connection is active and well located on the cross line from the patch panel to the switch. If the connection is opened later, it may result in disconnection or disconnection. If the turned on LED goes out, it indicates that the audio generator is detecting the connection of the socket center pin. This may be an unplugged network device or an unrecognized service.

Positioning in the cabinet

By moving the probe between the sockets on the terminal block, the audio generator can be positioned on the unconnected connection. Insert the black probe head into the socket, and the reading is usually 4-6 in positioning mode. As shown in the LED display, nearby sockets and cables will display lower signal levels.

If the service label in the office indicates an Ethernet connection, users should detect the cables that jump to active network devices. thisUsually for obtaining audio cables7-8reading.

Once the cable is located, the IntelliTone Pro 200 probe will provide a wire gauge to ensure correct needle wiring. By unplugging the jumper from the switch or inserting it into a patch panel socket, the complete end-to-end wiring can be checked for open circuits, short circuits, or misconnections.

When there is limited space or signal loss, isolation positions can help eliminate signal loss and provide more levels through higher intensity LEDs. By providing a set of different LED intensity levels, this will help distinguish audio cables or sockets from the surrounding cables or sockets. In addition, the line to table function typically provides deterministic audio cable indications.

Audio detection from cabinets to office sockets

Sometimes, the execution sequence of audio detection can be from the power strip to the office socket. If the distance between sockets is very close or it is difficult to insert probes into sockets, there may only be one or two levels of signal strength difference. If more differentiation is needed for extremely close sockets, shorter jumpers can be used to detect cables when moving between sockets to effectively separate them. Then, using the wire gauge function of the IntelliTone Pro 200 probe, use the same jumper to verify the correct cable.

Using IntelliTone for telecom mobile, add and change

Most office facilities will include one or more data and telephone devices. In the telecommunications industry, there may be various socket and wiring schemes, ranging from a pair of 4-position wall sockets to 4 pairs of 8-position module sockets connected to terminal blocks.

Wiring scheme

In the office, wall sockets can be 6 or 8 sockets, with 6 sockets having 4 or 6 pins. Horizontal wiring can use 1, 2, 3, or 4 pairs, with cable categories ranging from Class 3 to Class 5. In the cabinet, horizontal cabling usually terminates at 110 blocks or 66 blocks at previous sites. If the PBX is the main distribution frame (MDF), the blocks can be directly connected to the PBX, or if the PBX is an intermediate distribution frame (IDF), the blocks can be cross connected to other locations. According to the TIA-568A standard, the current practice includes an office 8-socket with 4 pairs of 100 ohm twisted pair wires connected to 110 blocks.

plug into the socket

The IntelliTone monotonic generator is equipped with an 8-bit module socket that accepts 4, 6, or 8-bit male plugs. The accompanying 4 and 8-bit jumpers allow the tone generator to be plugged into a wall socket.

If the wall socket is connected but blocked, the jumper can be disconnected from the phone and the 4, 6, or 8-pin male plug can be directly connected to the female socket of the tone generator.

Insert into block 66 or 110

There are multiple ways to connect a tone generator to a line pair. The accompanying crocodile test wire enables the possibility of bare wire connection. For perforated wires, Fluke Networks offers MT-8203-20, a telecommunications 5-way crocodile wire set equipped with a nail bed.

The Telecom 5-way Crocodile Wire Group also provides a U-shaped front-end for blade type terminals to securely connect to 66 blocks. In addition, it can also be connected to a tone generator through an 8-bit module plug using a 66 quick wire clip.

For 110 blocks, the standard 1-to-110 to module plug jumper can be directly inserted into the tone generator module socket.

In addition, various 110 test adapters can be provided to provide module sockets for connecting to tone generators.

Separate wires for isolation

IntelliTone digital signals experience significant loss between wire pairs in cables. This is especially true for Cat 3 cables. For this reason, it is recommended to use IntelliTone's simulation mode to isolate individual wire pairs. Due to SmartTone ™ The simulation mode can change the pitch rhythm when a short circuit occurs in the tested line pair, so it should be used. If the tested line pair is not terminated, the mutual contact between copper conductors can cause a temporary short circuit. When this situation occurs, the pitch rhythm will change to indicate that the correct line pair has been found. If the wire pair terminates at block 66 or 110, it may be necessary to use insulation pliers to short-circuit the wire pair.

In the distribution frame

In the cabinet, telecom sockets usually terminate on 110 blocks. If the PBX is the main distribution frame, the blocks can be directly connected to the PBX, or if the PBX is an intermediate distribution frame, the blocks can be cross connected to other locations. According to the TIA-568 standard, recent devices are increasingly including RJ-45 sockets in offices, equipped with all 4-wire pairs perforated on 110 blocks. Contact the cable with a needle to insulate or form a metal contact, and locate the cable.

Once the cable is located, standard 110 to 8-bit jumpers and IntelliTone Pro 200 probes can be used to check for open circuits, short circuits, and misconnections in the office wiring. Cables can be used in 1, 2, and 4 pairs of 110 connections in TIA-568A, TIA-568B, or Universal Service Classification Code (USOC) format. The line to table results will display the correct order of jumper wires matching the wiring scheme, including TIA-568A, TIA586B, and USOC.

The IntelliTone Pro probe supports the traditional method of using fingers to achieve contact. It can usually be completed on 66 blocks, but contact can also be achieved through metal objects using 110 connections. Using the body to transmit signals is a good practice as it can keep the probe away from the noise source and identify individual cables when metal contact is feasible.

Locate cables in the active PBX system

Some PBX lines generate signals at the IntelliTone operating frequency, causing the SYNC LED to emit red light and flash. In this case, IntelliTone may have some difficulty distinguishing PBX signals from IntelliTone signals. Therefore, it is once again recommended that you use IntelliTone's mode mode to achieve this distinction. Ensure that both the IntelliTone Pro tone generator and IntelliTone Pro probe are in analog mode.

Complete moving, adding, and changing

When returning to the office to retrieve the tone generator, the service identification function of the IntelliTone Pro 200 tone generator can be used to quickly verify the corresponding service on the correct socket. Before connecting to a computer or phone, you can check whether the jumpers and connections, including data communication or telecommunications services, are correct.
