French company HYDROPIC UVP6-HF underwater particulate matter andIn situ images of planktonic animalsdata acquisition system
Equipment Introduction
The UVP6-HF in-situ image acquisition system for underwater particulate matter and plankton is mainly used to simultaneously study large particulate matter (>80 μ m) and plankton (>700 μ m) underwater, and quantify particulate matter and plankton in water with known water volume. The UVP6-HF system uses traditional lighting equipment and computer-processed optical technology to obtain in-situ digital images of planktonic animals, with a large operating depth of up to 6000m.
UVP6-HF is a compact version of UVP5, which has the same design quality standards as UVP5 and can provide a resolution of up to 5 million pixels. It can capture images of planktonic animals within the range of red flash illumination, with a focal volume of 0.9 liters. The high-resolution digital images captured can be processed and analyzed by a computer in the later stage. When UVP6-HF is connected to traditional CTD measurement equipment, the distribution of particulate matter and planktonic animals can be displayed in real-time and integrated with CTD metadata. UVP6-HF is calibrated with the UVP5std and UVP5hd versions of the system.

After processing the images captured by UVP6-HF, upload them to the EcoTaxa website. You can use existing libraries on the website or your own created libraries to automatically identify and classify the images. At the same time, corresponding particle size spectra can also be drawn based on the screening criteria. In addition, users can also search and browse the areas and projects they are interested in on the website.
