Overview
Tullgren soil animal separator is an instrument device used to extract animals from soil. The principle is to place soil or hay samples in the movable upper part of the funnel, and the heat and light of the lamp create a temperature gradient of about 14 ℃ for the soil samples, stimulating arthropods and other organisms to move downward, pass through the gauze, and reach the collection trough at the bottom of the funnel. The position of the light can be adjusted to gradually raise the temperature of the soil, thereby preventing these slow-moving organisms from getting trapped in dry and hard soil blocks. There are ventilation openings around the filter screen to prevent soil samples from becoming hard and compacted. If wet collection is to be used, fill the funnel with water, place the gauze, and collect nematodes or other swimming organisms at the bottom of the funnel. The bottom can be pulled out at regular intervals (this method is suitable for collecting golden nematodes), with or without a light.
