Material Description
Weights should usually be made of metal or alloy, and they should be corrosion-resistant. When materials are used under normal conditions or when weights are used for a certain purpose, the change in weight relative to the maximum allowable error of the accuracy level can be ignored.
1. E1 and E2 grade weights
The material hardness and surface corrosion resistance of weights greater than or equal to 1g should be better than or similar to austenitic stainless steel.
2. F1 and F2 grade weights
In order to improve the corrosion resistance and hardness of weights, appropriate metal casting should be selected for the surface of F1 grade and F2 grade weights greater than or equal to 1g, and their hardness and brittleness should be at least better than that of drawn brass.
For weights equal to or greater than 1g, the hardness and brittleness of the materials used to produce F1 and F2 grade weights should be at least equal to the requirements of copper alloys.
For weights greater than 50kg, the hardness and brittleness of the material used to produce the body or outer surface of F1 and F2 grade weights should be at least equal to the requirements of stainless steel.
3. M1, M2, and M3 grade weights weighing less than or equal to 50kg
Made of corrosion-resistant and oxidation resistant metal materials for the production of weight materials smaller than 1g.
Cylindrical weights ranging from 1g to 50kg should be made of copper alloy or a metal with similar hardness and corrosion resistance to copper alloy. Grey iron should not be used to manufacture weights below 100g.
Rectangular hexahedral weights weighing 5kg to 50kg should be made of materials with corrosion resistance at least equal to that of gray cast iron. Its brittleness should not exceed that of gray cast iron.
The weight of the scale should be made of cast brass.
4. M1 grade, M12 grade, M2 grade, M23 grade, M3 grade weights weighing over 50kg
The weight should be made of one or more pieces of material, and the corrosion resistance of the material should be equal to or better than that of gray iron.
Under normal usage conditions, the hardness and strength of the material should be able to withstand loading and impact.
