The KIPP ZONEN DustIQ dust monitoring system is an instrument designed to measure and report transmission loss (TL) and pollution ratio (SR), caused by light being obstructed and reflected, and unable to pass through the glass of the panel due to pollution. The purpose of DustIQ is to be installed next to the PV panels in the solar park and on the same plane. This instrument is waterproof and can be cleaned like a PV panel, both dry and wet.

DustIQ instrument is an instrument designed to measure and report transmission loss (TL) and pollution ratio (SR), caused by light being obstructed and reflected, and unable to pass through the glass of the panel due to pollution. The purpose of DustIQ is to be installed next to the PV panels in the solar park and on the same plane. This instrument is waterproof and can be cleaned like a PV panel, both dry and wet. Through Modbus ® RTU can communicate using RS485 dual line connection, requiring a power supply of 12-24V and a maximum of 300mA.

DustIQ instrument is a high-quality instrument designed specifically for measuring the resulting light loss on dirty panels. The measured percentage of light loss represents the solar panels in the vicinity of the light loss caused by pollution. DustIQ instruments have internal digital signal processing and optimized interfaces and control systems for industrial data acquisition. Kipp&Zonen have developed a RS-485 Modbus ® The intelligent interface with data communication function is used to connect programmable logic controllers (PLCs), inverters, digital control devices, and new generation data loggers. Digital signal processing provides faster response times and corrects temperature dependence on detector sensitivity through integrated temperature sensors. In order to achieve the required accuracy, the reflected light quantity must be accurately measured and combined with local dust, and calibration must be performed to calculate the correct light loss. DustIQ panel pollution monitors typically come with a 10 meter UV resistant cable and an 8-pin plug on the instrument side and wire end on the other side. Longer 25 meter and 50 meter cables can also be used.
