KIPP ZONEN CHP1 Direct Radiation Meterworking principle:
Sunlight is absorbed and dispersed through the atmosphere, and reaches the Earth's surface through different pathways. Direct radiation is generated by the direct beam of light from the sun. Due to the scattering process of the atmosphere, scattered radiation comes from different directions. A direct radiometer is an instrument specifically designed to measure the solar irradiance of a direct beam of light, with a viewing angle of 5 °. This is achieved through the shape of a straight tube, precise aperture, and detector design. The front hole has a quartz window to protect the instrument and act as a filter for solar shortwave radiation with wavelengths between 200 nm and 4000 nm.
The Kipp&Zonen CHP1 direct radiometer is an all-weather instrument used for continuous measurement of direct solar radiation, exceeding the specifications of BSRN. BSRN needs to investigate climate change and verify the accuracy and reliability of satellite data (ground truth) through measurement.
-KIPP ZONEN CHP1 Direct Radiation MeterInstrument features:
The performance parameters of CHP1 exceed the ISO performance standards of the first level direct radiation measurement instrument. Each CHP1 is calibrated during manufacturing and provides a WRR (World Radiation Reference) traceable calibration certification certificate. Thanks to its excellent mechanical design, CHP1 exhibits outstanding performance under any atmospheric conditions. The zero point setting has been lowered to low, and the temperature response is between -20 ° C and+50 ° C * within ± 0.5%. The rain cover can protect the windows and is equipped with an integrated alignment aid tool. The Pt-100 and 10K thermistor temperature sensors are standard configurations, allowing each CHP1 to provide various temperature response data and facilitating connection to any type of data logger. Thanks to the design of the signal cable connection method and spiral desiccant box, the instrument is easier to install and maintain.
