working principle
5500 The working principle of the series dissolved oxygen sensor is to insert two metal electrodes into a small chamber filled with electrolyte, which is sealed with a selective thin film. Water and soluble ions cannot pass through this membrane, but oxygen and a certain amount of other gases and hydrophilic substances can pass through this thin film. By immersing the sensor in water, dissolved oxygen measurement can be performed. Due to the effect of the primary battery or external voltage, a potential difference is generated between the electrodes. This potential difference causes metal ions to enter the solution at the anode, while oxygen passing through the membrane is reduced at the cathode. The current generated by this is directly proportional to the transfer rate of dissolved oxygen through the membrane and electrolyte, and therefore the current is proportional to the partial pressure of oxygen in the water sample at a given temperature.
