Today, ABB Robotics released the agile version of the PickMaster software suite - PickMaster ® Lite software is designed to help end-users and system integrators in the packaging industry deploy high-speed vision guided robot picking applications more quickly and conveniently. PickMaster Lite has the core function of performing common picking tasks, which can reduce engineering workload and simplify system settings, thereby accelerating debugging and reducing total cost of ownership.

The demand for fast and reliable deployment of automation solutions from end users and system integrators is increasing to meet the constantly changing market demands. More than 74% of manufacturers are facing persistent labor shortages, and nearly 80% of consumers expect more personalized products. The pressure to improve production flexibility is increasing. PickMaster Lite enables device manufacturers to put robot picking systems into operation faster, while balancing the performance and flexibility required for high-speed applications.
As the agile version of PickMaster technology validated by ABB robots, PickMaster Lite provides precise visual guidance for picking, conveyor belt tracking, and motion control through an intuitive, task-based interface. It adopts pre configured templates and guided workflows, allowing users to operate without professional programming knowledge. Compared with traditional picking and placing software or PLC based software, it can reduce engineering workload by 30% and shorten debugging time by 25%.
PickMaster Lite can also work with ABB Robotics' RobotStudio ® Platform integration allows users to create digital twins, simulate layouts, and optimize robot paths before installation. By utilizing these features, users can develop compact and scalable high-speed visual guided picking workstations and devices in a simpler, lighter, and low-risk manner.
PickMaster Lite is designed to be easily integrated into existing device control architectures through OmniCore ™ The controller achieves seamless communication with PLC and HMI systems. In this way, device manufacturers and system integrators can directly manage key functions such as recipe selection, start, stop, and pause through their preferred control systems, enabling end users and system integrators to maintain existing layout designs while reducing development risks.
PickMaster Lite is suitable for cost sensitive, high-volume, standardized picking and packaging workstation application scenarios that require high operational convenience, speed, and reliability, such as consumer goods, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, electronics, and e-commerce industries.
