The W-type vacuum pump is mainly composed of a mechanical transmission part and a mechanical pumping part. The mechanical transmission part is divided into a crank and connecting rod mechanism, which is driven by an electric motor to drive a pulley, and then transmitted to the piston through the crankshaft, connecting rod, and crosshead. The circular motion of the pulley is transformed into the linear motion of the piston. The mechanical suction part mainly relies on the reciprocating motion of the piston inside the cylinder to complete. There are piston rings on the pistons inside the cylinder to ensure the air tightness at both ends of the cylinder that are separated by the pistons. When the piston moves back and forth in the cylinder, it constantly changes the volume at both ends of the cylinder, with one end increasing in volume to suck in gas and the other end decreasing in volume to discharge gas. The combined action of the piston and the air valve periodically completes the suction and exhaust functions.
