Online gas composition and aerosol monitoring systemMain functions and features
Air pollutants can be divided into pollutant gases and particulate matter (PM). Fine particulate pollutants can penetrate the human lungs and cause serious damage to human health. At present, the threat of PM to human health is a hot topic of concern, but it is still unclear which components will cause harm to human health. To clarify this issue, a large amount of special and * monitoring data is needed.
MARGA provides a new, online monitoring and research tool for atmospheric pollution. It uses a sampling device to directly absorb particulate pollutants and acidic gases into the aqueous phase, and then uses ion chromatography to monitor their composition. The entire process is fully automated. The liquefied samples collected by MARGA can be directly combined with other analytical instruments to analyze pollutants such as heavy metals or other organic compounds.MARGA can simultaneously collect and measure air samples of PM10 and PM2.5, with an automatic process and remote control for data monitoring and collection.
MARGA was jointly developed by the Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN), Metrohm, and Applikon,It is the world's largest online gas component and aerosol ion monitoring system certified by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ETVAt present, MARGA has been installed and put into on-site atmospheric testing in multiple countries including the United States, Europe, Asia, China, South Korea, etc., and has received recognition from atmospheric environmental experts.
What is MARGA?
Marga is an instrument for online monitoring of the concentration of aerosols and related inorganic substances in the atmosphere. The vacuum pump pumps air into the sampling box at a speed of 1m3/h. The cyclone separator (PM 10 or PM 2.5 μ m) placed at the injection port is used to screen the size of particulate matter (PM). In the sampling box, soluble gases are quantitatively absorbed by a rotary liquid cavitation device (WRD). Due to the different diffusion velocities of aerosols and gases, aerosols pass through WRD and are captured by a steam jet aerosol collector (SJAC) connected to WRD. Steam injection produces supersaturation, leading to the occurrence of water vapor condensation process.
The condensed aerosols are separated from the airflow in the cyclone separator. The liquid streams from WRD and SJAC were collected by a 25ml burette in the analysis chamber, degassed, and mixed with an internal standard before being quantitatively injected into cation chromatography and anion chromatography. Using a concentration column can achieve lower detection limits. Calibration of internal standards within the system, typically composed of standard solutions of yin and yang that are not present in the ambient air.
