The unit of conductivity is usually expressed in uS/cm or mS/cm. Sensors used to test conductivity typically have a fixed electrode constant, measured in cm-1, which is determined by the geometry of the electrode. The conductivity of pure water is usually less than 0.05uS/cm (at 25 ℃), while the conductivity of natural water such as drinking water or surface water ranges from 100-1000uS/cm. The conductivity of acidic and alkaline solutions will be higher, reaching up to 1000mS/cm.

TetraCon Quadrupole Testing Technology
By testing the conductivity of the electrolyte between two electrodes (reciprocal of resistance) and multiplying it by the electrode constant, the conductivity of the solution can be obtained. The simplest conductivity sensor consists of two plates, and alternating current is applied to both plates to generate a current between them, which is linearly proportional to the number of ions in the solution. The task of the host is to process the current signal transmitted by the sensor, combine it with the electrode constant, and finally convert it into a conductivity value for display.
The electrode type conductivity sensor of WTW has two additional plates, and no current flows between these two plates, only responsible for providing a stable and constant reference potential. When there is a change in the system, such as electrode contamination, the sensor automatically adjusts the voltage applied to the current plate based on the sensed signal, thereby achieving automatic background compensation.
