LIBS (Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy) is an atomic emission spectroscopy technique that uses pulsed lasers to generate plasma while ablating materials. Spectral and temporal analysis of the light generated by bright plasma can provide information on the elemental composition of the sample.
LIBS technology can be traced back to 1962, when experiments were conducted using a ruby pulse microwave maser. In the 1980s, Leon Radiemski, David Cremers, and others from the Los Alamos laboratory in the United States made this technology applicable in reality and proposed the term LIBS.
Depending on the different elements being analyzed, the detection limit of LIBS technology can reach the ppm to ppb level. Also, there is no need to prepare the tested sample in advance (such as polishing, decomposition, etc.), and LIBS technology can analyze multiple materials.
Laser induced breakdown spectroscopy system multi-channel fiber spectrometer
You can choose any type of spectrometer from Avantes' product manual to combine into a multi-channel spectrometer, ranging from the robust and flexible UV/visible spectrometer AvaSpec-ULS2048 to the thermoelectrically cooled near-infrared spectrometer AvaSpec-NIR2.5.
There are two types of chassis to choose from: one is a 9-inch desktop chassis that can accommodate a 4-channel spectrometer; There is also a 19 inch rack mounted chassis that can accommodate a 10 channel spectrometer. All channels are connected to the computer through a USB 2.0 cable, while the EVO series is connected to the computer through USB 3.0 or Ethernet.
