The ELTRA multi turn value encoder has various types such as mechanical gear set counting circles and electronic incremental counting circles. The internal mechanical gear set rotation counting circles, regardless of the position of each circle, and the number of circles is also value, which is called value true multi turn. It seems good, but it is still a multi cycle increment and cannot be considered a true value. What is a true value? It doesn't rely on direct readings from the previous history. After a power outage, due to the requirement of low battery power consumption, the speed and range of movement are actually limited. In addition, due to the factor of the battery, there are still doubts about reliability, such as leakage loops in high speed, wrong loops in interference, shaking wrong loops exactly at the 12 o'clock position, and battery failure wrong loops. 1. Parallel output:
The output of a multi loop encoder is a multi bit digital code (Gray code or pure binary code). Parallel output refers to multiple high and low level outputs on the interface, representing the 1 or 0 of the digital code. For encoders with low bit numbers, the digital code is usually output directly in this form, which can be directly entered into the I/O interface of the PLC or upper computer. The output is instant and the connection is simple.
However, parallel output has the following issues:
1) It must be a Gray code, because if it is a pure binary code, there may be multiple bit changes during data refresh, and the reading may cause errors in a short period of time.
2) All interfaces must be ensured to be properly connected, as if there are individual points of poor connection, the potential at that point will always be 0, causing error codes and making it impossible to determine.
3) The transmission distance cannot be far, usually one or two meters, and there is isolation for complex environments. 4) For a large number of bits, multiple core cables are required and good connections must be ensured, which brings engineering difficulties. Similarly, for encoders, there must be multiple node outputs at the same time, increasing the failure and damage rate of the encoder.
2. Serial SSI output:
Serial output is the practice of outputting data in chronological order through a protocol called a communication protocol. The physical forms of its connection include RS232, RS422 (TTL), RS485, etc. Due to the fact that good manufacturers of multi turn value encoders are all in Germany, most of the serial outputs are compatible with Siemens in Germany, such as SSI synchronous serial outputs.
SSI interface (RS422 mode), connected by two data lines and two clock lines, sends interrupted clock pulses from the receiving device to the encoder, and the position value is synchronously output to the receiving device by the encoder and the clock pulse. Triggered by a clock signal from the receiving device, the encoder outputs a serial signal synchronized with the clock signal starting from the high bit (MSB).
The lack of serial output connection lines and long transmission distance greatly improve the protection and reliability of the encoder.

3. Fieldbus type output:
A fieldbus encoder is a device that connects multiple encoders with a pair of signal lines, and transmits signals through communication by setting addresses. The signal receiving device only needs one interface to read multiple encoder signals. Bus type encoders can save connection cables and receive device interfaces, with long transmission distances. In the case of centralized control of multiple encoders, they can also greatly save costs.
