Product Introduction:
Formic acid is a safe and convenient hydrogen energy material with great potential for chemical synthesis and sustainable energy storage. The larger context is energy storage and utilization, while the smaller context is proton exchange membrane fuel cells. The main hope is to use hydrogen gas to generate electricity through fuel cells, as hydrogen gas has very high electrochemical activity and is a very good fuel. So, people have developed many methods for preparing and storing hydrogen, but there are still many major technical obstacles.
However, due to its high Gibbs free energy, formic acid can decompose into hydrogen and carbon dioxide at room temperature and pressure under the action of a catalyst. So far, the only organic compound that can undergo such decomposition under such easy conditions is formic acid, which is conducive to large-scale utilization. In addition, the decomposition and synthesis of formic acid only involve the transfer of two electrons, so the mechanism is relatively simple and has the potential to greatly reduce the difficulty of reactions and processes, thereby greatly reducing costs and having broad application prospects.
