Just like the filament in an incandescent lamp, the filament in an ion source will eventually burn out. The following operations can prevent premature damage to the filament:
When setting the acquisition parameters, set the solvent delay so that the analyzer is turned off when the solvent peak flows out
When the software prompts "Override solvent delay at the beginning of a run" at the beginning of the run
Be sure to choose 'No' if it's too late
Higher emission current will reduce the lifespan of the filament
If you are controlling MSD on the parameter editing screen, be sure to select "MS Off" before changing any filament parameters
