Measure and understand the flowability of powders
FT4 Powder RheometerDesigned to characterize the rheological properties of powders, also known as flowability. Until now, this is still the main function, and at the same time, instruments, accessories, and methodology are constantly being developed, so FT4 is currently the commonly used powder flowability tester.
FT4 Powder RheometerContains four testing methods:
·*The dynamic flow
·Fully automatic cutting box (compliant with ASTM D7891 standard)
·Overall performance
·Process variables
feature
·Fully automated testing program and data processing
·Preprocessing mode can provide good repeatability
·Suitable for different sample sizes, ranging from 10mL to 160mL (with an additional 1mL shear box available for samples with *)
working principle
FT4 Powder RheometerMeasure the resistance of powder flow in motion using * technology. The precise blade rotates downwards through the powder, establishing a precise flow pattern. The interaction or flow of thousands of particles, and the resistance applied to the blade, represent the difficulty of relative motion between particles or the overall flow performance.
Through precise and reliable motion patterns of the propeller blades, good repeatability has been achieved in testing. The advanced control system on FT4 can accurately set the rotation and vertical speed of the blades, thereby defining the helix angle and tip speed.
Why is the powder so complex?
Powder is a complex material. They are usually considered as a collection of particles, but in fact, they are complex mixtures of solid, liquid, and gas. They contain solids (particles), gases (air between particles), and liquids (water on the surface and inside of particles). The behavioral characteristics of these materials are difficult to model and predict based on laws.

Powder has many behavioral characteristics that determine its performance during the process and final application. These characteristics are independent of each other, and without a comprehensive characterization of the powder, it is difficult to understand and measure their mutual influence.
Obviously, a series of conditions cannot be avoided in all processing environments, and the actual processing of powders will be placed in different stress ranges. It is crucial to measure and quantify the response of different external environments in order to fully predict the performance of powders during processing.
