The investigation results of the water quality status of all sewage treatment stations in use from the Daqing Oilfield * Oil Production Plant to the Tenth Oil Production Plant show that in recent years, there has been a significant increase in the pollution of the filter media in the oily wastewater filters of Daqing Oilfield, mainly manifested as a significant decrease in the pollutant carrying capacity of the filter media, deterioration of the filtered water quality, increase in backwash energy consumption, and decrease in backwash effect.

In order to complete the arduous oily wastewater treatment work, Daqing Oilfield needs to replace a large amount of filter media every year. Abandoned filter materials are usually transported outside the station and directly buried, but the pollutants such as oil carried by the scrapped filter materials will gradually spread under various natural factors, which will cause huge pollution to the environment. With the increasing awareness of environmental protection in the whole society and the strengthening of supervision and punishment by government environmental protection departments, this disposal method is no longer feasible. At the same time as the disposal of polluted filter media, it is necessary to purchase new filter media, which consumes a large amount of funds. Daqing Oilfield needs to purchase over 10000 tons of quartz sand filter media, gravel, and walnut shell filter media every year, most of which are used for the renewal of scrapped filter media.

FESTO filterIt can remove 60% to 80% of colloidal substances in water, about 50% of iron, and 50% to 60% of organic matter. In actual operation, the activated carbon filter mainly considers the turbidity of the incoming water, backwash cycle, backwash intensity, and other relationships.

(1) Turbidity of inflow waterThe high turbidity of the water entering the bed will bring excessive impurities to the activated carbon filter layer, which will be trapped in the activated carbon filter layer and block the gaps and surfaces of the filter, hindering its adsorption effect. *When running on, the intercepted material stays between the activated carbon filter layers, forming a mud film that cannot be washed away, causing the activated carbon to age and fail. So the turbidity of the water entering the activated carbon filter should be controlled below 5mg/L to ensure its normal operation.

(2) Backwash cycleThe length of the backwash cycle is the main factor affecting the effectiveness of the filter. The backwash cycle is too short, wasting backwash water; If the backwashing cycle is too long, it will affect the adsorption effect of activated carbon: generally speaking, when the turbidity of the incoming water is below 5mg/L, backwashing should be done once every 4-5 days.

(3) Backwash intensityThe expansion rate of the filter layer has a significant impact on whether the filter layer is flushed during backwashing of activated carbon filters. The expansion rate of the filter layer is too small, and the activated carbon in the lower layer cannot be suspended, and its surface cannot be cleaned thoroughly; When the expansion rate is too high, it is easy for "charcoal" to escape. During operation, the expansion rate is generally controlled at 40% to 50%.

(4) Backwash timeGenerally, when the expansion rate of the filter layer is 40% to 50% and the backwash strength is 13 to 15 L/(m2/s), the backwash time of the activated carbon filter is 8 to 10 minutes. On the filter performance test bench, the system must be strictly purified before the test. Therefore, both the test system and the pollution injection system serving the test system need to be equipped with filters. The filter and the tested filter are two different things, and their accuracy requirements and pollutant holding capacity requirements are higher than those of the tested filter. To distinguish between the two types of filters in the same test system, this type of filter is called the test bench filter, and the tested filter is called the tested filter
