Product Features:
The recommended materials for cleaning EI ion sources are sandpaper and alumina powder. Do not immerse the filament or lens insulator in solvents. If the insulator is dirty, you can use a methanol (reagent grade) cotton swab to clean it. If this does not achieve the purpose of cleaning, replace the insulator
It is necessary to replace scratched lenses and other ion source components, as scratched ion source components can lead to reduced performance.
Warning:
Emphasize: Do not use sandpaper or ultrasonic waves to clean insulators.
Clean the surface in contact with the sample or ion beam using abrasive. Dip a cotton swab into the homogenized alumina powder and reagent grade methanol, and vigorously wipe all discolored parts. No need to polish the parts, small scratches will not affect performance. Also, clean the color changing components where the filament electrons enter the ion source body.
Be careful to avoid contaminating parts that have already been cleaned and dried. Wear new clean gloves before coming into contact with the components. Do not place clean parts on dirty surfaces. They can only be placed on clean non-woven fabric.
