Glass flake coating is a thick paste coating composed mainly of corrosion-resistant resin as the film-forming substance, thin glass flakes as the aggregate, and various additives.
The thickness of glass flakes is generally 2-5 μ m, and the crystal length is 100-3000 μ m. Due to the staggered arrangement of glass flakes in the coating, a * shielding structure is formed. This structure can replace the combination of rubber, plastic, and fiberglass lining to form a glass flake resin lining coating, which has the following characteristics:
1. Excellent resistance to medium penetration.
2. Excellent wear resistance.
3. During hardening, the shrinkage rate is small and the coefficient of thermal expansion is low.
4. The adhesion between the lining and the substrate is good, and it has good resistance to sudden temperature changes.
5. Good construction craftsmanship can be achieved through processes such as spraying, rolling, brushing, and wiping, which are not only convenient for construction but also easy to repair.
Glass flake coating is a special treatment of flake like glass (including alkali glass, C glass) filled in thermosetting resin. Compared with alkali free fibers (alkali free glass, E glass) used for reinforcement, the composition ratio * is different.
Glass flakes are a type of glass fragment that is 5 microns thick. It is made from molten alkali glass above 1200 ℃ through processes such as blowing, cooling, crushing, screening, and grinding. The anticorrosive coating with this glass flake as filler has high adhesion, excellent chemical resistance and anti-aging performance.
Principle of action
In the glass flake coating after construction, flat glass flakes with a horizontal to vertical ratio of 30-120 are arranged in a parallel and overlapping palace structure in the resin, forming a dense anti-seepage layer structure. The penetration of corrosive media into the cured resin must go through countless tortuous paths. Therefore, in a certain thickness of corrosion-resistant layer, the distance of corrosion penetration is greatly extended, which effectively increases the thickness of the glass flake anti-corrosion layer.
The internal structure of glass flakes is very similar to that of glass fibers, which are produced by rapidly cooling molten glass under tensile force. Below the melting point, it is generally in a stable equilibrium state with the lowest thermodynamic free energy. So the performance of glass flakes is different from that of gradually cooled flat glass, as their strength is much greater than that of ordinary glass sheets. If glass flakes are used as a coating filler for anti-corrosion protection, it will also have better performance than filling materials such as mica, calcium silicate, and aluminum silicate.
feature
1) The permeability of chemical media, gases, and vapors is much smaller than that of fiberglass lining, making it difficult to cause water vapor diffusion. This is due to the long penetration distance of the medium caused by the layered overlapping arrangement of glass flakes.
2) During curing, the shrinkage is low, and due to dispersion, the residual stress on the bonding surface is small.
3) The coefficient of thermal expansion is small, the corresponding adhesive thermal stress is also small, the heat resistance temperature is high, and the heat shock resistance is good.
4) Although the mechanical strength is not as good as that of fiberglass lining, it has excellent wear resistance and scratch resistance, and its mechanical damage is limited to local areas.
5) The construction process performance of glass flake coating is also very good.
If the glass flake coating is only a physical mixture of glass flakes and resin, its performance cannot be fully utilized. This also involves the issue of glass flake cross-section, glass flake mixing amount and mixing method, resin selection, substrate pretreatment, primer selection, construction method, and a series of parameters that determine the technical key of glass flake coating.
