In response to the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill, a research team from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) developed PolyCera membrane based on the 2000 Nobel Prize in Chemistry's unparalleled organic metal material. It has 61 international certifications.
PolyCera ceramic film not only possesses the properties of inorganic ceramic film, but also has the advantages of high precision and low cost of organic film. It also has characteristics such as oil resistance (50ppm), high temperature resistance (operating temperature 50 ℃), chemical resistance, as well as high flux and backwash recovery.
Disc filtration company introduced PolyCera in 2020 and applied it as a pre-treatment series flagship - 'CTUF semi softened membrane' for practical applications.

CTUF semi softened film is a combination of roll film and tubular film, which can bring customers a membrane treatment system with small footprint, high processing capacity, strong tolerance to suspended particles, and low operating costs.
Oil resistance: can withstand an oil content of 50ppm
High temperature resistance: operating temperature can reach 50 ℃
Acid and alkali resistance: able to withstand pH range of 1~13.5
Anti pollution blockage: reduce the use of chemicals and minimize the discharge of cleaning wastewater
High precision: highly concentrated aperture distribution
High throughput: 2-3 times higher than traditional organic membranes
Compared with traditional polymer membranes, CTUF membranes have a high porosity, which means that the water production flux of membranes with the same pore size is 2-3 times higher than that of traditional polymer membranes.
The characteristics of pollution resistance, oleophobicity, and hydrophilicity make the CTUF membrane capable of providing a super oleophobic and hydrophilic surface comparable to ceramic membranes, as well as the characteristics of pollution resistance and easy cleaning (see experimental effect comparison chart)

The CTUF semi softened membrane breaks through the boundary between traditional organic membranes and inorganic ceramic membranes. It possesses the chemical stability of ceramic membranes, the filtration accuracy of organic membranes, and comparable investment and operating costs to organic membranes.
