The Belfort Model 6400 visibility sensor is designed to monitor visibility conditions within a range of 6 meters to 80 kilometers.
The Belfort Model 6400 visibility sensor has digital and relay outputs, using RS232 digital output with baud rates ranging from 300 to 38400. It can display real-time visibility data and provide diagnostic information, while also providing an operational path for parameter setting and calibration of the instrument. SPDT relays can provide entry and exit setpoints for VMS or other systems.
Belfort Corporation in the United States has utilized its mature experience in visibility technology to redesign this new type of visibility sensor, which is suitable for applications that require precise monitoring of visibility. The Belfort series visibility sensors can provide high-precision and reliable visibility data. The Model 6400 has the feature of easy on-site maintenance, and its applications include weather stations, lighthouses, highways, resorts, as well as ships and ocean platforms.
Visibility is measured using the widely accepted forward scattering method. A high output infrared LED emitter projects light onto the sample column, and the forward scattered light is received by the receiver. The light source is adjusted to achieve excellent emission effects that can suppress background noise and natural variations under background light intensity. The sensor outputs visibility data through RS232 at user-defined time intervals or can be set to polling mode, only outputting data when needed. Compare visibility with existing relay thresholds and switch to relay output when alarm conditions are met. The visibility threshold can be set to any value within the allowable range of the instrument.
All sensors are integrated into a compact and lightweight protective housing, which can be installed on simple poles. The protective structure is sturdy and stable, and is made entirely of corrosion-resistant materials. The standard configuration includes a lens heater installed on the lens to prevent water vapor condensation, and an optional protective cover heater, allowing the visibility meter to work effectively in cold regions. The design of transmitter and receiver protective covers takes into account the impact of precipitation on instrument operation. Sensors can be calibrated under various weather conditions. The Belfort visibility sensor has received widespread praise from important meteorological and transportation organizations worldwide, and the Model 6400 visibility sensor continues to promote this high-quality tradition at a more reasonable price.
