The UVA2004 sealant compatibility test chamber uses UVA-340 ultraviolet fluorescent lamps. Ultraviolet fluorescent lamp is a low-pressure mercury vapor discharge lamp with fluorescent powder coated on the inner wall of the lamp tube. When current flows through the lamp tube, mercury vaporizes and discharges, emitting a large amount of ultraviolet light. The shorter wavelength ultraviolet light is converted into longer wavelength ultraviolet light and visible light by the fluorescent powder. Due to the characteristics of this lamp, the spectral energy distribution of the fluorescent top can be adjusted and controlled by changing the composition of the fluorescent powder, making it more similar to the spectral lines of sunlight.
The shortwave radiation of UVA-340 can simulate the critical shortwave wavelength range of sunlight spectrum, which is the spectrum with a wavelength range of 295 to 360mm. The short wave spectral distribution of UVA-340 is very similar to sunlight passing through glass windows. We refer to the spectral band between 315 nanometers and 400 nanometers as the UVA band or UV-A band. The lamp with its peak emission in the UVA range is called a UVA lamp and is widely used in artificial climate aging tests.
Although ultraviolet light (UVA) only accounts for 5% of sunlight, it is the main lighting factor causing a decrease in the durability of outdoor products. This is because the influence of photochemical reactions of sunlight increases with decreasing wavelength, so when simulating the destructive effects of sunlight on the physical properties of materials, it is not necessary to reproduce the entire spectrum of sunlight. In most cases, only short wavelength ultraviolet (UV) light needs to be simulated. The use of ultraviolet fluorescent lamps as aging light sources has the following advantages: it can quickly obtain experimental results and control the aging illumination (only the peak point needs to be controlled). It can obtain very stable spectra, is easy to maintain and has low maintenance costs, has cheap machine intervals, and low operating costs.
