Building a Secure Foundation for Software Development
As the European CRA (Cybersecurity Resilience Act) approaches implementation, the cybersecurity needs of the AMR industry are receiving increasing attention.IEC 62443 Industrial Automation and Control Systems Network SecurityIt is a network security certification standard jointly developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the International Society of Automation (ISA). The IEC 62443-4-1 Security Product Development Lifecycle Requirements is a key component that systematically defines various areas of the network security development lifecycle (SDL) for related products, including security management, security requirements, security design, security implementation, security verification and testing, management of security related issues, security update management, and security guidelines.
IEC 62443-4-1 Product Security Development Lifecycle
KUKA AMR has obtained IEC 62443-4-1 ML2 T Ü V S Ü D MARK,The KUKA M Product Development Process represents that the KUKA AMR software product development system has met the requirements of IEC 62443-4-1 network security system and reached the ML2 "controlled" maturity level.
IEC 62443-4-1 is an internationally recognized cornerstone of industrial network security, which requires not only the implementation of a single feature in software network security, but also the systematic embedding of security mechanisms throughout the product lifecycle.KUKA AMR relies on its self-developed full process industrial safety SDL development system (KUKA M Product Development Process)Integrating security genes into every stage from concept to delisting, strictly benchmarking standards, ensuring that products follow the concept of network security from design, development to closed-loop, and continuously improving the security level of the designed software.
The KUKA M Product Development Process is a complete security development system that covers security requirements analysis, security design, security testing, vulnerability management, and other aspects of the product development process. It can effectively identify and respond to network security risks throughout the product lifecycle, while empowering AMR software product development to ensure the improvement of its network security features.Based on the network security system, KUKA AMR software will complete a comprehensive iteration in the near future to meet the network security IEC 62443-4-2 SL2 certification requirements.
Li Taiwei, Director of T Ü V S Ü D Industrial Products Department
T Ü V S Ü D Industrial Products Director Li Taiwei said, "T Ü V S Ü D congratulates KUKA Robotics on successfully passing the IEC 62443-4-1 assessment and obtaining the certification certificate. This indicates that KUKA has systematically integrated industrial network security requirements into the product development lifecycle and established a secure development process system that meets international standards. This not only reflects KUKA's continuous investment in industrial network security construction, but also lays a solid foundation for the safe and trustworthy development of autonomous mobile robot products

  Digital+Physical Dual Security Base
With the popularization of automation and intelligent technology in the warehousing field, robots, control systems, cloud computing, and enterprise platforms are deeply interconnected. Although this has improved work efficiency and space utilization, it has also brought multiple security risks. Therefore, the global leading manufacturing supply chain has set extremely high safety entry barriers for mobile robots and their supporting control systems.
KUKA Mobile Robot is striving to pass the IEC 62443-4-2 product level certification, and is upgrading its AMR products comprehensively based on this framework. In terms of security technology requirements at the component level such as identity authentication, access control, system integrity, and data confidentiality, the product's security capabilities, such as firmware secure boot, secure update signature verification, communication encryption, audit logs, etc., are deeply strengthened to enhance the ability to resist medium complexity network attacks, prevent service attacks, malicious code injection and other risks, and further improve the product's security capabilities.
In terms of physical security, KUKA AMR has also built a three-dimensional defense line.KUKA P-series series modelsBy combining dual LiDAR and RGBD cameras, a 360 ° spatial security perception is constructed to achieve blind spot free and dynamic obstacle avoidance capabilities. Robots can accurately perceive objects such as shelves, columns, and workers, and make autonomous decisions on flexible deceleration, emergency stop, and active avoidance strategies based on local environment and object category risk levels. This ensures absolute safety of personnel while minimizing work interruptions.

This certification is also another important milestone for KUKA in the development process security dimension after more than 30 product safety certifications such as CE and NRTL. With the synchronization of the IECEE CB certificate for KUKA mobile robots entering the certification stage,Future KUKA mobile robots will achieve a dual compliance layout of T Ü V S Ü D MARK certification and CB global access qualificationTo build compliance endorsement in the robotics industry and the advantage of rapid market access in multiple countries around the world, forming a rare dual compliance competitiveness in the industry.
