Recently, the Joint Venture for Improving Valve Reliability in Nuclear Power Plants (hereinafter referred to as the "Consortium"), relying on China General Nuclear Power Suzhou Thermal Power Research Institute Co., Ltd. - National Nuclear Power Plant Safety and Reliability Engineering Technology Research Center, successfully completed the first batch of valve common technology open topic review work, and the review results have been publicly announced. This open project is one of the key work tasks of the consortium in 2026, aiming to focus on the reliability bottleneck of nuclear grade valves, promote key technological breakthroughs and achievement transformation through industrial collaborative research and development.

The consortium is jointly initiated by the China General Machinery Industry Association and Suzhou Thermal Power Research Institute Co., Ltd., with its secretariat located at Suzhou Thermal Power Research Institute Co., Ltd. The selection of this project fully reflects the collaborative positioning of the consortium's "industry university research application" - joint nuclear power operation units, backbone manufacturing enterprises, and universities and institutes team up to tackle the three common problems of independent evaluation of valve actuators, thermal aging resistance of key materials, and intelligent monitoring of safety components.
To further promote industry exchange and achievement transformation, the consortium is scheduled to hold the "Third Nuclear Power Plant Valve Reliability Improvement Seminar" in July this year. At that time, the consortium will showcase the phased research results including the above-mentioned topics, invite industry experts, enterprise representatives, and user units to deeply explore the technological path, and jointly build a virtuous cycle of "quality improvement - safety and reliability - industrial upgrading", laying a "safety valve" for the high-quality development of China's nuclear power industry.
