The petrochemical industry, as a pillar industry of the national economy, is facing profound challenges and opportunities for green transformation in the context of the "dual carbon" target. With the accelerated shift of national policies from "dual control of energy consumption" to "dual control of carbon emissions", the chemical industry not only needs to deepen traditional energy conservation and consumption reduction, but also needs to explore a deep synergy mechanism between energy structure adjustment and environmental governance.

At present, the development of the industry presents new trends and demands: on the one hand, traditional chemical industrial parks and enterprises urgently need to break the limitations of "single point energy conservation" and transform towards "system energy conservation" and refined operation through waste heat and pressure recovery and energy cascade utilization; On the other hand, with the explosive growth of new energy industries such as lithium batteries, positive electrode materials, and hydrogen energy, the high difficulty of wastewater treatment, water resource recycling, and comprehensive utilization of by-product resources in their production processes have become new technological pain points and compliance constraints. In addition, how to use digital means to achieve data-driven and collaborative control of energy management and environmental monitoring has become a key path for enterprises to enhance their competitiveness.

In order to help the chemical industry break through the bottleneck of green development and build an exchange platform for collaborative innovation between energy and environmental protection, it is proposed to hold the "2026 Chemical Industry Green Energy and Environmental Protection Collaborative Development Conference" at the same time as the World Environment Council's "Industrial Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection" conference. This conference will focus on the pain points in the chemical and new energy materials fields, explore systematic solutions from source emission reduction to end of pipe treatment, and promote high-quality development of the industry.
