A Brief Discussion on Precautions in the Use of High Pressure Ion Chromatography Systems
The high-pressure ion chromatography system has excellent pressure resistance and is compatible with 4 μ m ion chromatography columns, which improves peak capacity and further optimizes resolution. Supporting small particle size chromatography column separation greatly improves resolution, combined with fast ion chromatography column, the analysis speed can be doubled, achieving high-resolution and ultra fast analysis.
In the capillary chromatography mode of this system, the eluent generator can be used continuously for 18 months, consuming only 5.25 L of water per year, * reducing reagent consumption. The standby function can save a lot of time, improve analysis efficiency, and reduce daily laboratory consumption. The new module design has * flexibility, more comprehensive functions, better resolution, and faster analysis speed.
Before using the components of the high-pressure ion chromatography system, the following precautions should be understood:
1、 Washing solution
The quality of the eluent, as the mobile phase of the system, has a significant impact on the analysis results. The degassing of mobile phase is an important step in ion chromatography analysis process. Disturbances from infusion pumps or pressure changes before and after chromatographic columns, as well as inhibition processes, can lead to the precipitation of dissolved gases in the mobile phase, forming small bubbles. These small bubbles will produce many sharp noise peaks, and larger bubbles may also cause changes in the flow rate of the infusion pump. Therefore, degassing treatment should be carried out on the mobile phase.
2、 High pressure pump
The high-pressure pump is the power source of the ion chromatograph, which inputs the mobile phase into the separation system to complete the separation process of the sample in the separation column. The high-pressure pump used in ion chromatography should have the following performance: stable flow rate, corrosion resistance, small pressure fluctuations, easy solvent replacement, small dead volume, easy cleaning and solvent replacement. When the high-pressure pump is working normally, the system pressure and flow rate are stable, the noise is very low, and the chromatographic peak shape is normal.
3、 Suppressor
The suppressor of the high-pressure ion chromatography system consists of three suppression elements, which are used for the suppression effect in the circulation loop. They can be regenerated using sulfuric acid and rinsed with purified water, and regenerated outside the analysis flow path to remove harmful substances. Adopting a micro packed bed suppressor, its advantages include stable provision of H+, low baseline noise, suitable for various concentration analyses, high pressure resistance, organic solvent resistance, heavy metal resistance, corrosion resistance, low noise, only 0.2-0.5nS.
Suppressors should avoid spinning in the absence of liquid flow. Blockages in the flow path of the rinsing or regenerating solution, as well as saturation of the suppressor, can cause sudden increases in system pressure and high background conductivity. If the suppression component becomes contaminated after a long period of time, the commonly used regeneration solution will no longer be able to completely remove it, resulting in a significant increase in baseline.
