Installation method of extensometer for metal material tensile testing machine
Date: 2022-02-25Read: 20

Metal material tensile testing machineAn extensometer is an instrument used to measure the line deformation between two points on a component or other object. It typically consists of three parts: a sensor, an amplifier, and a recorder. Many people have complained that the extensometer is not tightly clamped during use, indicating a quality issue. In fact, it is not a quality issue with the extensometer, but rather a question about the usage method. When clamping the extensometer, gently pick up the extensometer, clamp the gauge rod gasket between the force arm and, press the two force arms tightly, so that the two blades make vertical contact with the specimen. Use a spring or rubber band to tie the extensometer to the specimen, and after installation, remove the gauge rod gasket to maintain a gap of 0.5mm between the force arm and the gauge rod.

Notes:

1. The testing machine must be inspected before testing to avoid damage to the extensometer.

2. To protect the electronic extensometer, do not drop or touch it, and keep the blade sharp.

3. Do not remove the screws at both ends of the gauge rod to prevent unlimited opening of the two arms, which may cause deformation of the strain gauges and spring gauges and damage to the extensometer.

It is worth mentioning that some testing machine fixtures generate an initial force when clamping the specimen, so remember to eliminate the initial force before clamping the extensometer, so that the gauge length clamped by the extensometer is the original gauge length of the specimen in its free state.

Metal material tensile testing machineUsing a microcomputer controlled fully digital broadband electro-hydraulic servo valve to drive a precision hydraulic cylinder, the microcomputer control system automatically controls the test force, displacement, and deformation in multiple modes, completing the tensile, compressive, and bending tests of the sample, in accordance with the requirements of the standard GB/T228-2010 "Metallic Materials Room Temperature Tensile Testing Method" and other standards.
