US Digital Incremental Rotary EncoderE3 is a high-resolution rotary encoder that features a sturdy glass filled polymer housing and a 5-pin locking or standard connector. The design of this optical incremental encoder is easy to install and remove from existing shafts to provide digital feedback information. The internal components include a McLaren disc mounted to a precision machined aluminum wheel hub and encoder module. The diameter of the wheel hub can reach 1 inch. This module includes a highly collimated solid-state light source and a single-chip phased array sensor, which together provide a system that is extremely tolerant of mechanical misalignment. E3 is typically designed for applications of 10 feet or less. For longer cable lengths, it is recommended to add a pc4/pc5 differential line driver. Use a centering tool to ensure that the base is located on the centerline of the shaft. The shell is firmly fixed to the base with two 4-40 flat head screws to provide elastic shell protection for internal components.
