The vapor pressure osmometer OSMOMAT 070 (dew point osmometer) $r $n is connected to two electric heating regulators for different measurements and suspended in a constant temperature measuring cell filled with saturated vapor of solvent. The initial surface of the measuring probe Z is covered with solvent droplets, so there is no temperature difference between them. Replacing a solvent droplet on the surface of a probe with a solution droplet can cause solvent vapor condensation due to the lower solvent vapor pressure on the solution surface. The condensation release causes the temperature of the solution droplets to increase, while also leading to an increase in vapor pressure. When the saturated vapor on the surface of the measuring cell and solution droplets reaches pressure equilibrium, the solution droplets reach a relatively stable state

Measurement principle:
Two electric heating regulators connected for different measurements are suspended in a constant temperature measuring cell filled with saturated vapor of solvent. The initial surface of the measuring probe is covered with solvent droplets, so there is no temperature difference between them. Replacing a solvent droplet on the surface of a probe with a solution droplet can cause solvent vapor condensation due to the lower solvent vapor pressure on the solution surface. The condensation release causes the temperature of the solution droplets to increase, while also leading to an increase in vapor pressure. When the saturated vapor on the surface of the measuring cell and solution droplets reaches pressure equilibrium, the solution droplets reach a relatively stable temperature, which ultimately leads to a difference in temperature between the two probes, and the temperature difference is directly converted into a voltage signal. The measured value is proportional to the osmotic concentration of the solution.
Due to the nonlinear behavior of osmotic pressure and concentration in polymer solutions, it is necessary to measure solutions with at least three concentration gradients. Calculate measurement results using statistical methods such as linear regression.
