There are four types of mechanical gearboxes with multi cycle value encoding:

1. Clock style mechanical gearbox

Similar to the gearbox structure of clocks and watches, top German manufacturers use this type of gearbox structure, which has the main advantages of stable and reliable data, and few faults. Our encoder products use clock gearboxes.

2. Vernier type mechanical gearbox

Japanese multi turn encoders use vernier gearboxes, but due to the high processing difficulty and cost of such gearboxes, only a few manufacturers adopt them and they have not been promoted.

3. Planetary gear mechanical gearbox

The structure is simple, the price is cheap, and most small factories in China widely use multi circle products. The disadvantage is poor accuracy, only used for rough measurement occasions such as safety monitoring, and cannot be used for automation control.

4. Pseudo value of gearbox

This type of encoder is not a true value encoder. The role of the gearbox is only as a starting point, and subsequent data relies on counting. The data is prone to errors and cannot be used for height positioning such as lifting, elevators, and other safety related situations.
