The wax content in crude oil is one of the important indicators indicating the quality of crude oil, which is of great significance for the storage, transportation, and subsequent processing conditions of crude oil. Wax in crude oil refers to those n-alkanes with relatively high carbon numbers. The normal alkanes of C16H34 to C63H128 are usually referred to as wax, and pure paraffin wax is a slightly transparent white odorless crystal. Wax usually exists in a liquid state under geological conditions. However, during the extraction process, as the temperature and pressure decrease and the distribution of light components breaks off, the ability of crude oil to dissolve wax decreases. Wax begins to form, precipitate, aggregate, continuously deposit, block, and directly affect production. Wax prevention and control measures are necessary

Advantages of wax content determination in crude oil/asphalt compared to traditional column chromatography
