Given the high background conductivity value of the eluent, without chemical inhibition, it is impossible to detect the conductivity signal value from the analyte. The inhibition reaction is as follows: during anion analysis, CO32- and HCO3- in the eluent react with H+produced by electrolysis to generate low conductivity H2CO3; During cation analysis, H+in the eluent reacts with OH - produced by electrolysis to generate H2O, thereby suppressing background conductivity. The automatic regeneration of ion exchange membranes is achieved by generating H+or OH - through electrolysis.
