The material of metal wound gasket is mainly composed of metal wound tape and non-metal filler tape, which are alternately wound together to form the sealing part. The common materials for metal wound tape are 304 stainless steel and 316L/stainless steel, and the common materials for non-metal filler tape are graphite and PTFE. In order to match the different types of flange sealing surfaces, the mechanism types of metal wound gasket are basically divided into four types: A type, B type, C type, and D type
1. Basic metal wound gasket
High quality stainless steel winding tapes such as SUS304 and SUS316 (V-shaped or W-shaped) are usually used to alternately overlap and spiral wrap with soft materials such as graphite, asbestos, polytetrafluoroethylene, and asbestos free. The metal tapes are fixed at the beginning and end by spot welding. Basic metal winding gaskets without inner and outer rings are generally used in medium and low pressure tenon groove surfaces and flanges with flat or concave convex surfaces
Performance characteristics:
The compression performance and rebound performance of the wrapped gasket are good, with multiple sealing channels and a certain degree of self tightening function. It is not very sensitive to surface defects on the compression surface and can partially eliminate pressure The effects of temperature changes and mechanical vibrations; Can withstand high temperatures Low temperature High vacuum Maintain its excellent sealing performance under various harsh conditions of cyclic alternation such as impact vibration.
2. Metal wrapped gasket with inner ring
The inner ring is generally made of the same material as the wrapped steel strip, which meets the corrosion resistance requirements of the pipeline medium and is usually better than the material of the pipeline or flange. According to the standard requirements, the metal wrapped tape is first fixed on the inner ring, and then the metal wrapped tape is alternately overlapped and spiral wound with non-metallic wrapped tapes such as graphite, asbestos, PTFE, and asbestos free. At the end, the metal tape is fixed by spot welding. The inner ring, also known as the reinforcing ring, is used to avoid loose loops around the gasket.

There are four types of products:
1. Basic type: made by winding metal strips and filling materials, suitable for concave convex flanges, etc;
2. Inner ring type: Adding a metal inner ring as a pressure barrier on the basis of the basic type, while filling the gaps between the flange edge and the sealed inner edge. This design can prevent solid accumulation, reduce fluid impact, and minimize the degree of corrosion on the flange surface, making it suitable for concave convex flanges;
3. Outer ring type: By using an outer ring, the gasket can be accurately placed at the center of the flange and provide additional resistance to prevent the gasket from bursting, becoming a compression stop point, generally suitable for flat and protruding flanges.
4. Inner and outer ring type: Adding an inner ring as an internal compression stop on the basis of the outer ring type, while also becoming a resistance to heat and corrosion, protecting the sealing surface of the gasket and preventing flange corrosion. Suitable for flat and protruding flanges, especially suitable for high temperature and high pressure conditions.
