Camshaft and crankshaft
A powerful measurement and analysis tool that can measure many characteristics, including bearing and pin alignment and harmonic content, pin to spindle parallelism, chamfer radius, oil hole wear, load ratio, and many other features. Taylor Hobson has established long-term partnerships with cam manufacturers and crankshaft manufacturers, and the versatility and geometric characteristics of the Talyrond and Form Talysurf series instruments allow you to make appropriate choices based on your actual needs.
According to the different specifications and weights of the cam and crankshaft, a series of medium and high range roundness measuring instruments can be selected for use. Our instruments of this type include TR365, TR290, and TR440 as described in the Talyrond link below.
Traditional surface roughness measuring instruments may encounter problems when measuring the surface characteristics of crankshafts and camshafts, but the Form Talysurf series surface measuring instruments do not have such problems. When detecting the surface roughness of pins and bearings or measuring chamfer radius, both size and shape can be evaluated simultaneously.
wear
The wear of oil holes on the crankshaft main bearings can have a significant impact on the smooth flow of oil in the bearings. In addition, there should not be any rings on the oil seal of the crankshaft that would force oil flow in one direction. The wear of the oil hole and the ring pattern on the oil seal can be quantitatively detected using the Talyrond roundness measuring instrument. The method is as follows: using the Talyrond roundness measuring instrument, measure the flatness traces at different positions with a certain angle increment, and then combine the measured traces to form a three-dimensional surface map.
Compared with traditional measurement methods, 3D analysis can provide clearer detection results, so inspectors can quantitatively evaluate defects or required factors in the shape or surface texture of components.
