The standard "CPASE MT002-2016 Test Method for External Variable Frequency Drive of Overspeed and Non Operated Reverse Protection Devices for Escalators and Moving Walkways" has been introduced to further enhance the safety protection of escalators
Escalators and elevators are one of the common special equipment that the public comes into contact with in daily life. Whenever accidents occur, they will attract widespread attention and have a huge impact. Last year, a small video of a subway station escalator pedal suddenly breaking and collapsing was widely circulated on the internet. The subway company responded that due to the incident at the subway station, the screws left behind by passengers' luggage got stuck on the escalator, causing the steps to collide with the comb plate, triggering the safety switch and stopping the escalator. The steps were damaged after being squeezed. After the incident, the staff surrounded and protected the escalator, and carried out follow-up treatment. No passengers were injured during the process, and normal operation has been restored.
The safety supervision department has been intensifying its safety supervision and measures for escalators. The group standard "Test Method for External Variable Frequency Drive of Overspeed and Non Operated Reverse Protection Devices for Escalators and Moving Walkways" (CPASE MT002-2016) of the China Association for the Promotion of Special Equipment Safety and Energy Conservation has been officially promulgated and implemented.
The standard proposes a detection method for effective safety protection against overspeed and non maneuvering reversal of escalators and moving walkways. Multiple industry insiders and experts believe that this standard is applicable to the tests specified in the "Elevator Supervision Inspection and Periodic Inspection Rules - Escalators and Moving Walkways" (TSG T7005-2012), solving the detection problems of overspeed and non operated reverse protection devices for escalators.
This standard was led by Zhuhai Testing Institute of Guangdong Special Equipment Testing Institute, and jointly drafted by China Association for the Promotion of Special Equipment Safety and Energy Conservation, Elevator Quality Testing Center (Guangdong), Shanghai Jiao Tong University Elevator Testing Center and other units. At present, the testing methods and related testing equipment described in this standard have been applied by more than 100 special inspection institutions in more than 20 provinces (municipalities, autonomous regions) in China, generating significant social and economic benefits, and playing a driving and demonstration role in the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the special inspection industry.

It can also be used to detect the performance indicators of the escalator speed deviation protection device. The instrument is easy to operate and convenient to use.
