Background of PART 01 Meeting
Building a maritime power is an inevitable choice to promote Chinese path to modernization. Coastal zones and coastal waters are not only sensitive areas for land sea interaction, but also ecological barriers to support high-quality development of coastal economy. Currently, under the dual disturbance of intensified global climate change and human activities, the ecological environment in China's coastal areas is facing profound evolution: the pressure to reduce total nitrogen entering the sea is enormous, new pollutants such as microplastics and antibiotics are prominent, eutrophication and ecological degradation are intertwined, the mechanism of land sea cross pollution is complex, and the synergistic effect of pollution reduction and carbon reduction faces many technical bottlenecks.
With the deepening of the construction of the national "Beautiful Bay" from "symptomatic" to "fundamental", empowering marine ecological governance with "new quality productivity" has become a key breakthrough. In order to implement the land sea integrated strategy, promote the transition of marine ecological environment monitoring from "traditional perception" to "integration of air, space, sea and digital twin", and promote the transformation of pollution control from "end of pipe interception" to "coordinated pollution reduction, carbon reduction and nature based solutions",We will hold the "2026 Coastal Water Ecological Environment Monitoring and Governance Protection Technology Seminar".
This seminar will focus on four core areas: tracing and control of new pollutants, ocean modeling and intelligent perception, land sea coordination and beautiful bay construction, and coastal blue carbon and ecological restoration. It will gather top experts, scholars, management decision-makers, and industry elites from home and abroad. Through cutting-edge academic collision, hardcore technology demonstration, and precise industry docking, we aim to solve the scientific challenges and technological barriers of comprehensive coastal zone management,To provide solid technological support and solutions for the construction of China's marine ecological civilization and the beautiful bay construction of "clear water and clear beaches, fish and gulls gathering, and harmonious sea of people".

The first batch of high-level scientific and technological innovation talent project young scientific and technological talents from the Ministry of Natural Resources, young scholars and experts from Mount Taishan, Shandong Province, have long focused on the process and mechanism of ocean carbon sink and acidification. Revealing from a global scale that the lateral inorganic carbon output of salt marshes and mangroves can offset some of their carbon sequestration effects, proposing effective carbon sequestration strategies requires increasing the ratio or difference between alkalinity and inorganic carbon; We evaluated the acidification process in the global oxygen minimum zone and found that the spatial variability of ocean acidification mainly depends on the intensity of ocean ventilation; A one-dimensional diagnostic model for analyzing carbon sinks and acidification processes has been developed, proposing that the difference between total alkalinity and dissolved inorganic carbon can be used as a regulatory mechanism for analyzing ocean carbon sinks and acidification.
