Innovative technology is the primary driving force for cultivating new quality productivity and the strategic pivot for achieving the "dual carbon" goal. General Secretary Xi Jinping has repeatedly emphasized the need to accelerate the integration of source, grid, load and storage, promote the construction of new energy systems and new power systems, implement energy technology and equipment research and development projects, create a globally competitive green energy industry cluster, and make the energy revolution a new engine for high-quality development.

In May 2025, the National Energy Administration issued a notice on organizing the first batch of pilot work for the construction of a new power system, focusing on cutting-edge directions related to the new power system. Pilot work will be carried out in seven directions, including grid building technology, system friendly new energy power stations, smart microgrids, computing power and power cooperation, virtual power plants, large-scale membrane high proportion new energy transmission, and new generation coal-fired power, providing strong support for exploring new technologies and models for the construction of new power systems and promoting breakthroughs in the construction of new power systems.

Currently, Sichuan, as the largest clean energy base in China, has built a clean energy ecosystem covering the entire industry chain of "source network load storage" based on the strategic advantages of the Chengdu Chongqing Science and Technology Innovation Corridor, forming a closed-loop capability from core technology research and development, high-end equipment manufacturing to intelligent operation and management. Through the "Water, Wind, Solar, and Hydrogen" multi energy complementary and collaborative system, Sichuan is accelerating to become a global source of green energy technology innovation and a high-end equipment manufacturing center. Its power generation equipment production has remained the world's top for many years, and the energy equipment industry has exceeded 350 billion yuan, demonstrating its core hub position in the global energy transformation.

In order to implement the national energy development strategy, accelerate the construction of a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient new energy system, promote green technology innovation and advanced green energy technology promotion and application, deepen international exchanges and cooperation, and with the approval of the Ministry of Commerce, the 23rd China International Power Industry Expo and Green Energy Equipment Expo (CIPIE2026 China Sichuan Power Exhibition) will be held from May 28 to 30, 2026 at the Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center. The theme of this exhibition is "Driving the Upgrading of New Power Digital Intelligence and Promoting Collaborative Innovation of Source, Grid, Load, and Storage". It focuses on seven key directions, including network construction technology, smart microgrids, computing power and power synergy, and virtual power plants. It promotes technological innovation and industrial synergy in various fields of green energy ecological chains such as water, wind, solar, storage, and hydrogen. By building a high-end platform that integrates technology exchange, business cooperation, and policy interpretation, it helps enterprises explore the market and achieve high-quality development of the green energy industry.

One of the national professional exhibitions in the power and energy industry approved by the Ministry of Commerce, it has been successfully held for 22 sessions.
