The food industry is a pillar industry of the national economy. With the continuous improvement of consumption levels, people will put forward higher requirements for the quality of food supply, food safety and nutrition, dietary habits, and spiritual enjoyment. The future of food supported by synthetic biology, nanotechnology, the Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence is an important development direction. In 2023, the total output value of China's food industry will reach 2158.695 billion yuan, of which the output value of the Sichuan Chongqing dual city economic circle will exceed one trillion yuan, fully leveraging the advantages of the food industry in Sichuan and Chongqing. With the accelerated integration and development of the two regions, the cooperation in the food industry is gradually moving towards deep clustering, which has become an important focus of the construction of the Chengdu Chongqing economic circle.
As an important development carrier and key growth engine of China's food industry, traditional advantageous food production areas and local characteristic food industries are related to major national strategies such as rural revitalization and manufacturing power. Eleven departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have jointly issued guidance, proposing to strengthen the coordinated support of the industrial chain, guide enterprises to concentrate in traditional advantageous food production areas, and amplify the effect of industrial clusters.
Under the strong market background, the 2026 Western (Chongqing) Food Processing Machinery and Packaging Equipment Expo will be grandly held from May 8-10, 2026 at the Chongqing International Expo Center (Yuelai Hall).
