Several important factors affecting the measurement accuracy of dissolved oxygen analyzer
Date: 2022-04-06Read: 0

Dissolved oxygen (DO) refers to the amount of oxygen dissolved in water, expressed in milligrams of oxygen per liter of water. Dissolved oxygen in water is called dissolved oxygen. Dissolved oxygen exists in a molecular state in water. Dissolved oxygen in water is one of the important indicators of water quality and also one of the important factors in water purification. High dissolved oxygen is beneficial for the degradation of various pollutants in water, thus enabling the water to be purified quickly; On the contrary, pollutants in water with low dissolved oxygen degrade more slowly.

Dissolved oxygen analyzer is used to measure the content of oxygen dissolved in aqueous solution, which is dissolved in water through surrounding air, air flow, and photosynthesis. Dissolved oxygen is consumed in water through respiration and decomposition, and ultrasonic thickness gauges mainly rely on air and photosynthesis for supplementation. Widely used for measuring dissolved oxygen content in various situations, especially in aquaculture water, photosynthesis, respiration, and on-site measurements. The oxygen content in water mainly depends on temperature. The oxygen concentration in warm water should be lower than that in cold water. However, excessive dissolved oxygen content can be harmful to animals and plants. So when using it, it is necessary to consider that dissolved oxygen measurement may be affected by some factors.
Environmental impact: Adequate dissolved oxygen is essential for good water quality. All forms of life require oxygen. The natural process of stream water purification requires an appropriate oxygen content to supply aerobic life forms. If the oxygen content in water is below 5.0mg/L, aquatic organisms will have difficulty surviving. The lower the concentration, the more difficult it is. If the oxygen content is below 1-2mg/L and lasts for several hours, it will cause a large number of aquatic organisms to die.
Application scenarios: Dissolved oxygen analyzer can be used to measure and monitor processes where oxygen content can affect reaction speed, process efficiency, or the environment, such as aquaculture, biological reactions, environmental testing (lakes, streams, oceans), water/wastewater treatment, and wine production.
Temperature compensation: For standard dissolved oxygen measurements, temperature affects the solubility and diffusion rate of oxygen, therefore temperature compensation must be performed.
Salinity correction: The presence of dissolved salt limits the amount of oxygen that can be dissolved in water. The relationship between oxygen concentration and partial pressure varies with the salinity of each sample solution. Therefore, most instrument manufacturers provide manual adjustment of salinity to correct the changes caused by different ion concentrations in anemometers.
