Traditional automation and power measurement technologies are increasingly integrated, and Beifu BECKHOFF has integrated the EL3783 power monitoring oversampling terminal module into the standard control system, making high-precision grid analysis functions now available for power generation systems. Most importantly, for three-phase AC systems with voltages below 690V, synchronous analysis of three-phase voltage and three-phase current can be directly implemented in the PLC, with a sampling frequency of up to 20k per second for data analysis.
The EtherCAT terminal module EL3783 of Beifu BECKHOFF measures the instantaneous value of each phase in three phases, with a measurement voltage of up to 400/690 Vrms, a measurement current of 1 or 5 Arms, and a resolution of 16 bits. This module measures six channels simultaneously based on the principle of EtherCAT oversampling, with a time resolution of up to 50 µ s, which is significantly faster than the task cycle of the controller. By utilizing the EtherCAT distributed clock function, synchronous measurement can also be achieved with other EtherCAT devices in the system, and power grid cascading faults can be detected, regardless of the size of the system.
The control system can also provide detailed data containing relevant details. For example, if true RMS values are used for performance calculations when analyzing power and current curves, or if users use specific algorithms, these detailed data are needed. In addition, the EtherCAT terminal module EL3783 has an automatic current range switching function, which can achieve 650% range for signals with a rated current of 1A, and has high measurement accuracy, with a maximum error of only 0.2% (full range value).
EL3783 Series Beckhoff Terminal ModuleIt can be used in conjunction with the TwinCAT 3 power monitoring software library TF3650 to form a high dynamic measurement system integrated into a standard PC control system, which can achieve detailed power grid analysis. This can determine what grid supporting measures should be taken when voltage drops (low voltage ride through) occur, for example, harmonic analysis can be used to achieve state monitoring without the additional cost of accelerating sensors.
