A carbon dioxide incubator is a device that simulates a growth environment similar to that of cells/tissues in living organisms. The incubator requires stable temperature (37 ° C), stable CO2 level (5%), constant pH (7.2-7.4), and high relative saturation humidity (95%) to culture cells/tissues in vitro.
As a commonly used instrument in laboratories, what are the precautions to be taken when using a carbon dioxide incubator? Let's list them:
1. Before injecting water into the carbon dioxide incubator, the power switch cannot be turned on, otherwise it will damage the heating element.
2. After several months of operation of the carbon dioxide incubator, the water in the water tank may decrease due to evaporation. When the low water level indicator light (WLow12) is on, water should be replenished. First, open the overflow pipe and use a funnel to connect the rubber tube to add water from the injection hole to turn off the low water level indicator light. Then, measure the amount of water added (1800ml for CP-ST200A and 1200ml for CP-ST100A), and plug the overflow hole.
3. The carbon dioxide incubator can be used as a high-precision constant temperature incubator, and the CO2 control system must be turned off at this time.
4. Because the CO2 sensor is calibrated under saturated humidity, the humidification tray must always be filled with sterile water.
5. When the displayed temperature exceeds the set temperature by 1 ℃, the overtemperature alarm indicator light (OverTemp7) lights up and emits a sharp alarm sound. At this time, the power should be turned off for 30 minutes; If the power (temperature control) switch (Power20) still exceeds the temperature after turning it on again, the power should be turned off and the maintenance personnel should be reported.
6. When the pressure of the steel cylinder is lower than 0.2MPa, the steel cylinder should be replaced.
7. Try to minimize the time it takes to open the glass door.
8. If the carbon dioxide incubator is not used for a long time, the water in the studio must be removed before closing, and the glass door must be opened for ventilation for 24 hours before closing.
9. When cleaning the CO2 incubator workshop, do not collide with components such as sensors, mixing motors, and wind turbines.
10. When disassembling and assembling the bracket cover in the workshop, a random wrench must be used and excessive force must not be applied.
11. Before transporting the incubator, the water inside the incubator must be drained. When draining, tightly fit the rubber tube onto the water outlet hole so that the pipe mouth is lower than the instrument. Gently take a sip, lower the water pipe, and the water will be siphoned out.
12. Before moving the carbon dioxide incubator, the shelves and humidification tray inside the studio should be taken out to prevent collision and damage to the glass door.
13. When transporting the incubator, do not invert it and do not lift the door to avoid damage.
