Cleaning method of pH meter electrode
Date: 2022-05-06Read: 16

An electrode is a component in a device that serves as the two ends for inputting or exporting current in a conductive medium (solid, gas, vacuum, or electrolyte solution). InPH meterThere are also applications in China, but there is a bad situation:PH meterThe electrode may be damaged, and the "damage" of the pH meter composite electrode mainly refers to a decrease in sensitivity gradient, slow response, and poor repeatability of readings. Generally, it is caused by the following three factors, and customers can use appropriate methods to clean it:

1. Organic pollution: The electrode measurement end should be immersed in anhydrous ethanol (or a solvent that can dissolve the organic matter) for 15 minutes. Before removal, the electrode should be quickly shaken several times (stirred). After removal, rinse with deionized water and immerse in a 3.0mol/l potassium chloride solution for 4 hours. Attention: The electrode housing material is polycarbonate, and the tested sample or cleaning solution containing organic matter may corrode the electrode housing.
2. Metal ion attachment: Soak the electrode measuring end in a 0.5mol/l hydrochloric acid solution for 5 minutes. Before removal, shake the electrode quickly several times (stirring). After removal, rinse with deionized water and soak in a 3.0mol/l potassium chloride solution for 4 hours.
3. Inorganic cleaning: The electrode measuring end should be immersed in 0.1mol/l EDTA solution or 0.1mol/l hydrochloric acid solution for 15 minutes. Before removal, the electrode should be quickly shaken several times (stirred). After removal, rinse with deionized water and soak in 3.0mol/l potassium chloride solution for 4 hours.
4. Protein precipitation: The electrode measuring end is immersed in a 1% hydrochloric acid solution (with a concentration of 0.1mol/l) for 15 minutes. Before removal, the electrode should be quickly shaken several times (stirred). After removal, rinse with deionized water and immerse in a 3.0mol/l potassium chloride solution for 4 hours.
5. Oil adhesion: The electrode measuring end should be immersed in a weak alkaline detergent for 15 minutes. Before removal, the electrode should be quickly shaken several times (stirred). After removal, rinse with deionized water and immerse in a 3.0mol/l potassium chloride solution for 4 hours.
6. Regeneration of glass sensitive film: The electrode measuring end is immersed in a 4% hydrofluoric acid solution for 3-5 seconds, then rinsed with a 1:1 hydrochloric acid solution for 10 seconds, washed with distilled water, and stored in a 3.0mol/l potassium chloride solution for 24 hours.
